There is a new series on History Channel called HUMAN WEAPON (http://www.history.com/minisites/humanweapon) which is a nice introduction to the martial arts for anyone not familiar with the different styles. If you missed this Friday nights weekly broadcast they have been showing the reruns just before the newest episode.

Awesome show!
Those two guys really take you deep into whatever fighting style they're studying for that particular episode.
They not only learn lots of skills in it, they also take you into the history of each martial art.
I saw the Muay Thai fighting episode and I also checked out the Eskrima Stick Fighting and French Savate Streetfighting episodes.
It was interesting to learn that Savate was created by French sailors to cure their boredom while sailing the high seas. (something I did not know before I saw this show)
I have the Karate and Judo episodes recorded on DVD but haven't watched them yet.
Think I might sit down and watch them tonight.
I definitely recommend this show to anyone with an interest in martial arts.

(it's not from Human Weapon but it's a great fight!)
Ash, the Karate and Judo episodes are also good. Next Friday they go to Greece for Pankration.
I had never heard of Pankration before.
It's from Greece as far as I know.
I'll trust in Jason & Bill from Human Weapon to teach me all about it.
My DVD recorder is already pre-programmed for this Friday's show.
I haven't been watching it, but my sensei told me that they did a feature on Kiyohide Shinjo, one of the great masters of Uechi Ryu Kenyukai and 9 time all Okinawa karate champ. He is one of the baddest people alive!
Those Sensei's in Okinawa were superhuman. I saw the Karate episode first, I also really like the Judo ep. I used to study Aikido and Judo a little so it was cool to see them check out the Jujitsu that both of the arts are based in.
I studied a bit here and there and really enjoyed it.
I'd like to see the guys cover Penjat Silat and Sambo.
Tonight they go to Isreal for krav Maga which is very brutal.
The Krav Maga episode was the season finale and I have to admit that it was way better than some of the others.
Check out the final fight:

The Judo and Pankration episodes were flat-out BORING.
It was all I could do to keep my attention focused on those particular shows.

Thanks for posting Ash I can't believe I missed that one. Nice clip and I'll be sure to catch the rerun.

Man! I definitely need to start watching that show. If there is one fighting style I want to know more about, it's Krav Maga. I absolutely love the premise of the style: If you don't have a gun, here are some really nasty tricks that should buy you the time to run away. And then some guy gets kicked in the nuts followed by a punch in the windpipe.
