Well, now this is an interesting comparison:

AMAZING Megan Cohen has managed to exactly follow your thought processes and get the exact same perceptions on Cherry 2000. I shall start writing my scholarly papers forthwith, my name in Science is made!!!
Oh wait, you mean she just copied you?
So what are you gonna do? I gotta say I'm not sure about their quality in resident Scholars.

Wow, such a blatant job of thievery. :hatred:
Andrew,
Upon review I saw no similarities and have no idea what you are referring to...
Ok so I'm lying. There is a blatent similarity and if they're going to do that, why should they bother writing reveiws at all? Its a bit counter productive if you think about it, especially for the readers.
Someone did that with an ICO walkthrough I wrote (yes, I'm BoredGamer, for any of you GameFAQers). I never did resolve it, but it still p**ses me off. Many people have done the same with cheats I've submitted, etc. The funny thing is I don't see the point to it. There's nothing to be proud of, you didn't accomplish anything. You just copied and pasted, and any person who's ever touched a computer can do that.

They have an online contact form, so I submitted that. Hopefully they will resolve it that way. If not, I lookup their snail mail information in a few days and send a certified letter informing them of the issue. If they do not take action, then I notify the hosting provider, who will take down the page, if not the whole site. Looking at the site and its background, I highly doubt anything beyond step 2 will be needed.
Unfortunately, I end up playing this game a few times a year. Quite often, it is sites like this, with posters or registered users who do the plagiarizing. I don't go looking a whole lot, just spot checks every few months, so there are probably a lot more instances than I find.
So all it takes to become a "scholar" is a skill in plagiarism? I never knew it was that simple!

A karma point to you Joe for actually playing ICO! Far too few people have played it!
How did you find that page?
Did someone notice it and point it out to you?
That's just wrong ... it's just as wrong as the webmaster of that site having a Pomeranian named Beaver. Then again it's just wrong for a MAN to have a Pomeranian, that is unless ....
Here's he ME page.

It's a good thing he not conceded ... I wonder if he'll have that review pulled.
That's the internet for you. I find my reviews being republished on news scrapers all the time but it's futile to dispute them since it's all gathered and posted and bots. I doubt a single human hand plays a part in that process since the content is a lure to get people to click on ads.

Beaver The Pomeranian. Sounds like a hit prime time show to me.
This just amazes me. Shameless.
Hm, so Andy are you flattered or frustrated?
Badmovies.org is a heavy inspiration for HooplaNet and I often find myself in a position where I'll be reviewing a movie which has been done on here, but I just try to enter my review with my mind empty and keep it as original as possible rather than end up following the same road the Badmovies review created just because it's already there. I remember Andrew himself purposely avoiding reading some of the reviews I've written since they were of movies he wanted to review himself, and I can see why - sometimes it can be hard not to find myself subconciously repeating points made on a review I enjoyed before.
This site is so full of great ideas and approaches that it can be hard to not want to just go straight ahead and copy them, but a decent writer/journalist/whatever they consider themselves is able to create a completely different review completely independant from and uninfluenced (perhaps some inspiration, obviously, but not completely influenced by it) by previous ones they've read.
On HooplaNet you'll find my little checklists at the bottom of reviews, different each time, which obviously have their roots in the "Things I learned from this film" and "Watch out for" lists on this site, but I did speak to mister badmovies himself to make sure it didn't annoy him, and I tried to make sure I was putting my own spin on it, rather than just taking an idea I liked for my own.
Course, being the decent feller I am (bask in my glory) I inform everybody that Badmovies was one of the inspirations on my links page. If this 'critic' isn't good enough to create their own independant review and website without taking everything from elsewhere then he/she's clearly not a very good one.

Beaver The Pomeranian, he's got wood.
Eh, its just annoying. In this case, you just have a submitter copy and pasting a chunk of my review onto the other site.
I actually like seeing that other sites use some of the same ideas I do, such as the lessons learned and stuff to watch for. Those are general frameworks to work inside of. What they do with them is always the fun part.
Ash, I just do spot checks when I have some free time. In this case, I checked the Cherry 2000 review and it turned up that copy.

That's good to hear. I'd hate to have an angry Marine banging at the front door. :teddyr:
EDIT: post 1000! Woo hoo! I am now a frightening fanatic of horrible cinema!
Andrew, while this kind of thing is outrageous, it's also sort of a compliment, I've always found your reviews to be well thought out and very funny, even if I didn't agree with your opinion of whatever movie you were reviewing.
It doesn't surprise me when you're imitated, that you were copied is reprehensible, I'm glad to see that something can be done about it.
Just because someone looks good in my jeans doesn't mean they can steal them.
People who can't express original thought should be publically shamed for this type of theft!

You know they have a comment forum for that review, there are currently no comments I bet we could add a few. Perhaps the author gets notified when comments are made.

Thank you, sir. Everyone will not agree on every film and, the fun part about that with movies, is that neither side is wrong. Looking at it that way, I guess that I always try to make the reviews entertaining and helpful to someone who is looking for a few films to watch.

Well, let's give the webmaster/site owner a few days to take action. Then, perhaps a single post pointing out that the review is plagiarized would be in order. By that point, I will be at the stage of sending a certified letter informing the site owner of the copyrighted material and asking him to take it down.
