After purchasing the new Region 2 Guyver: Dark Hero [Special Extended Edition] DVD, I noticed on the insert inside of the case they were advertising some other DVDs recently released by the same studio, included was a Region 2 release of Hard Rock Zombies. I remember seeing a very low quality VHS transfer of this shown on The Horror Channel (now known as Zone Horror), which seems to be dedicated to showing mostly B-movies, and wanting to do a page on it for my website (http://www.hooplanet.co.uk) because it was so different and it really entertained me, in an unusual kind of way, but previously I would have had to actually purchase and import a DVD to do that, so I'm very happy that a Region 2 copy exists so that I can now rent it...
Anybody else enjoy (or not enjoy) this one? I notice Andrew's opinion on it is quite negative, but personally I loved it's self awareness and the way it was so absurd and random. This is the only way to see an ugly midget eat himself.
Favourite quote:
- "Sounds more like the plot of a really bad movie!"
- "This whole day has been like a really bad movie."
Hard Rock Zombies...I reviewed that one a while back. What a painful film to intake. I'm not sure if I should have been on crack for it to make sense but it was one of my favorite reviews. The worst part about the film, the music which somehow gets stuck in your head. Hitler, midgets, zombies...this one has it all on the nonsense scale.
Rough viewing and tiresome towards the end, but it has it's moments.

that was painful. Tell me it wasnt the best of the flick
Anybody got a video of the midget eating himself?
Thing about the movie is how self aware it is, I really like that, it's quite a joke - but the problem is that it seems as if it was at first written to not be a comedy and then they later got bored or something, because parts do attempt seriousness in a very cheesy way.

Yup. There are a few moments of inspired lunacy that seem like they're the result of directorial boredom; the rest of it gave me gas.
Is it really that bad of a movie?
I bought the dvd for it yesterday, and I'm gonna watch it today or tomorrow. I found it in a three pack, for $4.99. The other two movies included were Revolt of The Zombies and Night of The Living Dead. I've seen Night, obviously, but haven't had the pleasure (or displeasure) of seeing the other two.
This Halloween I came across the movie in a box set of zombie movies. It was with the classic White Zombie I saw it down at Big Lots then at Super Kmart about $5. I think it's still there at Super K.
My friend bought this movie, and we watched it at his house.. it was.. interesting. I really enjoyed it, it was dumb, but I go to this website because I love dumb/bad movies.
Hard Rock Zombies wasn't that bad of a movie, in my opinion. I've seen worse.
