I have a movie that is bugging me to find the name of.
It is an old B&W, and I remember there is a rock/mineral thing maybe the size of a softball that is actually an egg for this invisible creature. The egg is opened (maybe a mineralogist or mining camp?). The people are holed up in a cabin (aren't they always) and sprinkle flour on the ground to see the footprints as it approaches. They throw hatchets at the creature and you see two or three hatchets embedded in air moving closer.
I seem to remember the creature having a creepy scream.
I also think there were two men and a woman.
It seems like it wasn't a terrible movie, but I was a kid (still am, just now at heart)
