Title: UHF
Post by: Mr. DS on September 09, 2007, 07:03:05 PM
I have to say this is one of the funniest films in the world to me and I find it highly underated.  Granted its overally stupid but thats what makes a good comedy sometimes.  Anyone else feel the same way?

I enjoy the film myself.  I mean yea it's corny at times, and just plain goofy also but it's fun to watch.  When I just feel like watching some corny humor I pop this film in and has some fun.

Ah yes, The Wheel of Fish, and of course the turtle "nature's suction cup".

I always loved the bum who asks for change.  He never fails to crack me up.  That and the Yappies Dog Treats scene!

UHF is just a fun goofy movie.  I'm still waiting for a UHF 2 to come out...I hear Michael Richards is looking for work.

UHF is a gem of a movie.  I have the dvd, and it's great.  I love Ghandi 2, where he's back, with a vengeance.  And Conan The Librarian.  Conan's like, "Don't you know the Dewey Decimal System?"

Shame it bombed at the theater.  Weird Al rocks.

I've always loved UHF. Sure the plot is just a weak vehicle for Weird Al to do his thing with, but the movie is funny.

Conan the Librarian, Ghandi 2 and the spoof on the infamous KKK episode of Geraldo are my favorites spoofs in the movie.

SUPPLIES!!!

That is easily the funniest line in this entire movie.  I would even venture that is one of the funniest lines in any movie.  And if you don't think so, then you must be "Soooooo stupid!".

While nowhere near Oscar material, I do like UHF and own it on DVD.

It's a comedic gem all right . . .  watched it many times.  The "I wanna be your HOG!" song cracked me up!

oh yey...good movie

I like the bit where they get chucked out of the fast food joint and take about 10 seconds to land on the ground.

According to the dvd, both Joel Hodgson and Crispin Glover were seen about being in the flick.  But I think they said that Joel had just started with MST3K, so couldn't commit, and Crispin wanted to play the "Crazy Ernie" character at the car lot, and Al felt that he couldn't see Crispin playing that role.

I've tried watching this a few times.
It strikes me as a dumber, more musical version of Kentucky Fried Movie or Amazon Women on the Moon

My ex put me onto this movie years ago when we were first married.  I was dubious considering my ex is a hideous nerd and his sense of humour is somewhat suspect.  But being the dutiful new wife, I watched it with him.....and LOVED it!

He told me he and his best friend went to see it when it came out in the theatres, both of them having been big Weird Al fans for a long time.  They were two of only a dozen people in the whole theatre and they were laughing throughout the whole movie.

He said that the other patrons didn't bother, probably because they didn't get it.  It only lasted about a week and then they stopped showing it.

I'll have to find it on DVD and add it to my collection.

I saw this for the first time this weekend: that Raiders spoof where the guide warns Weird Al about the dangers in the cave, steps out and promptly gets run over by a train...  :bouncegiggle: :bouncegiggle:

It is coming out on BD and I must buy it. A lot of the exterior shots were filmed in Tulsa, Ok, near where I grew up. Tulsa has such a wonderful heritage of weirdness and classiness. Weird All knew how to pick locations.

I absolutely love this movie!
So much humor, and so many appearances by future stars!
Every time I hear "I Wanna Be Your Hog" I just crack up!
