Title: God the Almighty SUED in Nebraska Court
Post by: CheezeFlixz on September 17, 2007, 08:28:52 PM
My question is who going to die to serve God the complaint?

Nebraska Democratic State Senator Ernie Chambers has decided to go straight to the top in an effort to stop natural disasters from befalling the world.
Chambers filed a lawsuit against God in Douglas County Court Friday afternoon, KPTM Fox 42 reported.

I wonder if God will use the Alberto Gonzales defense:
D.A.: Mr. Almighty, at what point was the decision made to have Katrina make landfall on the Gulf Coast?
GOD: I do not recall.

Umm, yeah. Good luck with that. Can a lower court sue a Higher Court?  :tongueout:

The suit asks for a "permanent injunction ordering Defendant to cease certain harmful activities and the making of terroristic threats."
The state senator's reason for bringing the suit is the state's attempt to restrict frivolous lawsuits...

Yep still think it's silly ... but, I don't recall getting a video from God making terrorist threats towards mankind.

Ernie Chambers is a bit of a nutjob and sort of a radical.  I grew up in Omaha and he was always pulling silliness like this.  Its nothing really new, he's just making noise.

Who wants to be the judge who might have to rule against Him? How would you collect damages anyway?

Since it's a civil case, does that mean no jury of His peers? Swearing Him in might be a little touchy as well: " So help you,......You?"

But what lawyer could resist the urge to cross-examine Him under oath? Just think of all the questions you could ask if you got Him on the stand.

GOD: The Devil made me do it.

I think the Judge should issue a restraining order.  Ernie should just stay 100 feet from God at all times.

Title: God files response to lawsuit

"Defendant denies that this or any court has jurisdiction ... over Him any more than the court has jurisdiction over the wind or rain, sunlight or darkness. God contends that any harm or injury suffered is a direct and proximate result of mankind ignoring obvious warnings."

Just to play joking devil's advocate (somebody had to sooner or later), could Perkins face charges for misrepresenting himself as God by filing his response? Or claiming to be his agent when he has not been retained as counsel for the Almighty?

"Obvious warnings"? That's basically admitting to making threats or at least creating a public nuisance. Maybe even claiming responsibilities for countless "Acts of God". Just think of all the civil actions that could open up.
