Title: THE TOMB
Post by: indianasmith on September 25, 2007, 10:06:24 PM
First off, please don't confuse this wonderful B movie with that awful piece of cinematic vomitus, H P LOVECRAFT'S THE TOMB.  That would be like confusing Rose McGowan with Rosie O'Donell.

THE TOMB is the most delightfully entertaining B movie imaginable.  The director's  name was Italian and the producer was American, but the movie actually looked like it was originally filmed in Mexico, and some parts were badly dubbed.  But think of all the classic elements of a B movie - bad acting, cheesy costumes, gorgeous "bouncy" actresses, hackneyed plot, cheap special effects, a tiny smidge o'boobies,  tons of fake skeletons and spiders, and a very obviously fake Mayan temple . . . this movie is AWESOME!

Basic plot is, in the beginning, an evil priest of some demon goddess with an unpronouncable name is sacrificing people to bring her evilness into the world and destroy humanity.  He is about to sacrifice the blond priestess of Light (appropriately clad in a see thru white chemise) when the king interrupts and stops the festivities, and the evil priest is mortally wounded . . . but his chief aide, Demon Girl, mummifies him in a special way after gouging his eyes out that will cause him to return two thousand years hence to complete the  ritual . . .

Cut to a team of American archeology students and their professor arriving in Mexico to excavate a Mayan ruin.  Their guide, a Mexican archeologist, dies that night, and the local shaman/medicine woman offers to lead them to the Temple  . . .  and so on.

Trust me, this is a TRULY great B-movie.  If I see it on the BUY shelf, I will probably own it soon.  I give it my highest recommendation! :twirl: :twirl: :twirl: :twirl: :teddyr:

Also don't confuse this with the awful Fred Olen Ray movie "The Tomb", starring Michelle Bauer.
