Title: The Public Enemy (1931)
Post by: Scott on October 28, 2007, 08:47:01 AM
THE PUBLIC ENEMY (1931) (http://imdb.com/title/tt0022286/) - Wow, this is a great gangster flick starring James Cagney that TCM showed yesterday. Cagney plays a real ruthless gangster which shows his rise to a life of crime. Not much else to say except to watch this movie the first opportunity you get. It's just as good if not better than SCARFACE (1932) (http://imdb.com/title/tt0023427/).

(9 Out Of 10 Stars)    It's amazing how early they made great films that hold up even today.

Not the best scene, but here's a clip.

Jimmy Cagney is in my top ten actors of all time. This and WHITE HEAT and ANGELS with DIRTY FACES are my favorites of his.
Useless trivia...I'm sure you all may know this but the lady catching a grapefruit in the mush is none other than Mae Clarke-aka Elizabeth inthe same years  FRANKENSTEIN!!!
