October went out with a bang and November started with a smaller but no less worthwhile bang this week at The Tomb of Anubis (http://www.tombofanubis.com). Here's what you missed:
Monday:
Ragnarok fought gangsters and 4th graders with Starman in The Atomic Rulers!
NutJob solved a big top murder mystery with Joan Crawford in Berserk!
Anubis went back to the zombie infested 1950s to have some fun with Fido!
Wednesday:
Anubis celebrated the favorited holiday of his childhood by going back in time 20 years and digging up a double-feature of Mr. Boogedy and Bride of Boogedy!
Friday:
Anubis finished off the week with a trio of Shorties - Sean Connery and Ursula Andress fought a Canadian trying to pass himself off as a Chinese terrorist in Dr. No - Killer Klowns from outer space invade a group of small town teenagers' good time in, well, Killer Klowns From Outer Space - Denzel Washington and Russell Crowe have a pre-American Gangster fight in Virtuosity.
Some great reviews there.
Glad to see some love for Fido. I got around to watching it last night and it's fantastic. I love the whole '50s setting with the gorgeous cars and great music, interspersed with Billy Connolly attacking people. Also, for the first time ever, I found Carrie Ann Moss attractive.
Definitely Ska, loved Fido here. It was just such a pleasant movie, but just twisted enough that it didn't rot my teeth. I thought the casting was perfect, the writing was great, the direction, cinematography, just everything was heads above! I don't want to oversell it, but it's probably my favorite new movie from the last few years. Huzzah! And you're right, it really is probably the first time that Carrie-Anne Moss has been genuinely attractive, and in a "naughty 1950s housewife milf" kinda way.
