I saw this movie last weekend. Have to say I was disappointed.
I thought I'd like this movie. I kept waiting for something to happen and nothing really did. I guess I was expecting a 28 Days Later/Event Horizon type thing. Maybe if I didn't have any expectations, it would have been better. But I guess it's hard to go in completely clear minded about movies.
At least the scientific adviser on the movie is actually a scientist. They featured him in a recent issue of Focus magazine, but his name escapes me for the moment.
What did you all think of this one?
Actually, I thought it was one of the few movies that, at the beginning, just totally "immersed" me, you know? I really felt like these guys were really on a spaceship, had this mission and stuff, loves a lot of the sets, especially the Oxygen Garden. I loved the soundtrack as well.
Buuuut...
I don't know, I can't help but think it would have been better if they'd stuck with the "constantly experiencing technical problems" building suspense a la Apollo 13 rather than the direction they ultimately choose to go. Kind of turned the movie into a cliche, in my humble opinion.
It feels more like a summary of all sci-fi hits from "2001" onwards than as a real movie, but I found it very enjoyable, if only for the far fetched twists and the visuals.
For the most part I enjoyed it.The movie had kind of a weird yet cool vibe to it.I liked the idea of the sun as god /angry deity.Somewhat tarnished by the last 15min
kinda reminded me of Altered States a little.I might buy it if I can get it cheap.
