Title: B- MOvie Supporting Players! Favorites?
Post by: RCMerchant on November 08, 2007, 10:42:44 PM
There are movie stars, and B- Movie stars...and then there are the B-movie players who seem to never get to headline...but  make it all worthwhile... some of my favorites-

LYNN LOWERY- the doe-eyed hippie chick infected with rabids dog blood in I DRINK YOUR BLOOD, a goverment created loony in Romero's the CRAZIES, and the sex crazed parasite infected chick in Cronenberg's SHIVERS...do you sense a pattern here?

Give the little lady a big hand! From I DRINK YOUR BLOOD

MANTAN MORELAND-Mantan has made many a lowbudget loser-(KING of the ZOMBIES comes to mind) worthwhile for his inclusion. He's played oppisite such greats as John Carridine,Bela Lugosi, Warner Oland, and even appeared in his last role in the same film Sid Haig (another fave!) debuted-1963's SPIDER BABY!!!

Mantan, with Keye Luke, in one of his many Charlie Chan films

ANGELO ROSSITTO- What can I say? This little man is AMAZING!!! He's worked with directors as diverse as Tod Browning (FREAKS) to Al Adamson (DRACULA vs. FRANKENSTIEN,)...and opposite stars as different as Bela Lugosi(SCARED TO DEATH) to Mel Gibson (MAD MAX-BEYOND THUNDER DOME) ! Always an unforgettable presence!!!!

That's Angelo,on the table, in Tod Brownings classic FREAKS!

So.. do YOU have any favorite B- Movie supporting players?

Believe it or not...Ol' Dick was going to be on mine too...I just have been having so much trouble with my 'puter jumping off- I hadda do this quick! I LOVE Dick Miller! Besides being in absoultly everything  and starring with evryone...he headlined the classic BUCKET of BLOOD- my favorite early AIP black comedy...(waaaaaay better than LITTLE SHOP of HORRORS-imho)! And I love his line in ROCK and ROLL HIGH SCHOOL-concerning the Ramones-"They're ugly...ugly people." According to Psychotronic Mag...that was something that just slipped out of his mouth...and it stayed in the film!  :bouncegiggle:

I vote for Anguirus.  The most outgunned yet scrappy sidekick in Kaiju history.
No breath weapon, no flying, just spiky tenaciousness.

Coleman Francis also directed the classic (?) Tor Johnson (another good one, come to think of it!!!) in BEAST of YUCCA FLATS!

One that comes to mind for me is DARBY JONES...the tall Zombie from I WALKED WITH A ZOMBIE and ZOMBIES ON BROADWAY!!! Whatta creepy looking guy. And all he does is stand and STARE.

and how did i forget my favorite zombie???zombies on broadway is a big fave,i've probably watched it at least 50 times in the 3 years since tcm allowed me to tape it!!

i would also like to mention  gino realito, and rosella frighetti, although you'll see very few movies with their actual names,if any!! i've seen them both in many hammer, amicus and giallo films,in the background,or as victims...i wonder if they would show up on imdb??...............i must check!

Michael Ripper, who appeared in more Hammer studio films than any other actor. Always played supporting roles, but always gave them life and made them stand out from the background.

Al Leong

He's one of those actors you see in tons of things yet never know his name.  He is mainly in action flicks.

My favorite B-Movie supporting character actor: Aubrey Morris

He played Mr. Deltoid in A Clockwork Orange and was in a slew of B-Movies.

Clint Howard. He always adds a bit of creepy fun (fun creepiness?) to a movie.

Speaking of creepy....

This is gotta be the CREEPIEST man/baby of all time! Remember him in the weird Star Trek episode with the floating space cube and big head alien? YIKES! If I hadda kid that ugly, I'd make him walk backwards!
You'd have to tie a pork chop around his neck just to get the dog to play with him!

Debbie Rochon- Terror Firmer, Tromeo and Juliet, Santa Claws, etc.

Also:
Trent Haaga- Probably most known for playing Jerry in Terror Firmer or the leader of the Diaper Mafia in Citizen Toxie: The Toxic Avenger 4.  Good actor.  Well, based on those flicks at least.

Steve Buscemi Not necessarily a "B Movie" type actor, but doesn't necessarily get recognized much for being an "A" Level type actor.  Plus he's not against doing 'bad/b-movies' like Ghost World or Airheads.
