Title: Trailers from Hell
Post by: Pilgermann on November 14, 2007, 11:33:51 PM
There's a neat website called Trailers from Hell that was started by Joe Dante and a few other folks.  Basically various filmmakers present a little introduction to a trailer of a particular film and comment on it while the trailer plays.  There's also the option of watching the trailers without commentary.  Most of them are for b-movies, but not all of them.

I'm bumpin' my old thread 'cause I like this website.  Here are a couple of links (I should add that there are often spoilers):

I recently got done watching the "42 Street Forever" trailer compilation DVD.  It was a fair mix of films, and fun to watch in short increments (as my time permitted).  I wouldn't really classify all of the movies as grindhouse, but it did have everything from martial arts flicks, to low budget horror, to stuff like "Convoy."

The convoy trailer cracked me up.  Haven't seen that movie in a while, but the memory stuck with me.

Cool site.  And some names behind those commentaries like Eli Roth and Rick Baker.

The first trailer I watched was for Attack of the 50ft Woman and I want to know if that piece of trivia is true.  The intended to make a film about a man and his lover drive his wife insane was the real plot-then they added the 50 ft woman part later.

I'd love to see the writers meeting where this was added.
Frank:  Ok, Mrs Archer realizes her husband's trying to kill her.  And in the next scence she turns the tables on him and shoots him.
Jerry:  I like it-except for the shooting part, we need something better.
Frank: Poison, hits him with her car..
Jerry: No-we need something different.
Frank:  How about she turns into a giantess and crushes him.
Jerry:  BRILLIANT!  I LOVE IT!

or better yet a modern crime thriller where something compelty random is added last minute.  Take the Black Dahlia and throw in a cybernetic frilled lizard.
