Well the UN under the guise of the IGF (Internet Governance Forum) want to remove control of the internet from the US and ICANN (Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) which is non-governmental. After all it's not like we invented it ... oh wait we did. Mainly this pressure is coming from China, Iran, and other countries that have issue with free speak as ICANN nor the US regulate what is said on the internet. ICANN only assign domain names and IP addresses. China, Iran and other Islamic and oppressive countries want more control over what is on the net and what is said on the net. The US has said it will not give up control of the internet with out a fight. (yeah) Since the US nor the ICANN does not regulate speech or content on the net.

And yes every America can find common ground in an unusual climate. If the UN has there way, namely Russia, Iran, China, Brazil et. al. Everything that is posted online with have to go through a censor first or damn near it.
