This movie is included in Mill Creek's DECREPIT CRYPT OF NIGHTMARES 50 movie pack.
Sure it was made on a shoestring budget, but the gore and animation effects are ambitious and fun and, oddly enough, I enjoyed watching much of this movie. It's like a cheapo version of the segment from the Twilight Zone where the kid turns his house into a cartoon world.
Here's the plot: The Devil creates a DVD that unleashes two of its characters (Dr. Carnage and Max Assassin) into people's homes when they watch it. A "young girl" (actually, an actress with big boobs who is in the bathtub at the beginning of the movie) watches the DVD while her sister and 3 friends play "Strip Ouija" downstairs. Dr. Carnage and Max Assassin emerge from the TV and proceed to terrorize and mutilate the unsuspecting teens.
This movie has just about every type of gore and disgusting effect you can think of: decapitations, disembowelments, spines being pulled out, vomiting, skulls being sawed open and brains being removed . . . all in over-the-top cartoonish style.
This is one of the more entertaining movies I've seen in Mill Creek's "Pendulum Pictures" 50 movie boxed sets. It may not be a good movie, but I applaud the filmmakers for their efforts.
I actually enjoyed this film for being a Brain Damage production. I've heard the sequel is better than the original, and there's a third one in the works.
Also, there is another topic for this movie, in case you're interested in seeing what's already been posted.
