Title: So how was your Christmas Dinner?
Post by: indianasmith on December 25, 2007, 06:09:54 PM
My wife cooked up one of her famous lemon roasted turkeys - the tenderest, juciest turkey you have ever tasted!  To go with it we had homemade cornbread dressing, giblet gravy, black eyed peas, and cordial cherries for dessert!

My tummy is real happy right now . . . .

We had ham, sweet potatoes, snap beans, broccoli, macaroni & cheese, pecan pie, brownies, and watergate salad.  All this along with your choice of good beer (Spaten or Yuengling), hot apple cider with honey, milk, or water.  It was quite good.

I just did Lobster in a whiskey-cream sauce (a dish called dublin laywer), asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes.  We'll have Tiramisu in a bit.  All turned out well.
Hey Andrew, whats Watergate salad?  I have visions of it breaking out of the refrigerator and stealing your credit card numbers.

We had turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberries, and cheesecake for desert.  Now I'm having a few Budweisers to wash it all down

Looks like the New Year's resolution will have to be something to do with dieting.   :teddyr:

Awesome dinner and lunch.

For lunch went to my Uncle's where we had our traditional lunch which is a whole heap of Arabic food [we have Lebanese roots on one side of the family]  This included Ham, Kifta [a meaty burger-like thing] Chicken-rice which is basically roast chicken, rice and mince meat [and awesome] some nice salads and Koosa [sp?] which is basically a type of cucumber stuffed with rice, meat and a tomatoey sauce.  Plus other crap, but it was all good.  Baclava and Baclewe for dessert.  Yum!

For dinner I usually go to my grandparents but this year went to my girlfriend's house.  Because she is half Indian there was alot of South Indian food, which included many types of meat including beef, lamb and some really nice chicken, tomato rice [which was quite spicy] and some Egg Curry [plus salads etc.]

For dessert had some Belgium chocolates she had brought back from Europe and Christmas cake.

All in all a rich rich food day...  perfection...

Which one? We've done 4 Christmas dinner in as many days and I have another one tomorrow. I'm stuffed like a tick and about to pop.

The main thing we've had is  Ham, Smoked Turkey, stuffing, giblet gravy, stuffing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, rolls, and a tine of other stuff and about a 100 desserts. We're doing another Christmas here on New Years.

I think I've been eating for about 4 days straight now.

Indiana we put lemons in ours too when smoking them makes them very moist and tender.

Caesar salad, tenderloin, duck l'orange, mashed potatoes with port gravy, broccoli & carrots.  For desert, either cupcakes or 3 varieties of Graeter's Ice Cream (I couldn't pass up Bourbon Ball flavor!)  Nightcap, a glass of Woodford Reserve over crushed ice.

I like this one best.... VERY tasty sounding.   Nothing against the traditional ham of course.

Back when we lived closer to the relatives, we might have eaten three dinners in two days. This year, it was just me cooking for my wife, the little one and myself.

I roasted up a 14-pound turkey with stuffing, made a big pot of garlic mashed potatoes, baked yams, boiled carrots and lots of dark brown gravy, with raspberry pie for dessert. Even the dog got some, since I tossed the cooked giblets in with his kibble. He was a happy pooch.

And tonight, for Boxing Day, we had dinner number two: cubed turkey and gravy heated and stirred until it fell apart, then spooned over reheated potatoes, yams and stuffing. It was hard to say which meal was better, the original or the leftovers.

And we still have a big bowl of turkey meat that my wife wants to make into stew for freezing. She had the bones simmering away on the stove today.

Hmmm, we tend to be "traditionalists" in that Christmas dinner is either ham or turkey, but I can see some good ideas for the next time Katie asks "What do you want for dinner this week?" in the future.

We've frozen some of the ham for a delayed "leftovers" night in the next month.  The rest of it (including the bone), some beans, some cabbage, and other ingredients, are all going into the pot to make stew today.

If he can't nuke it, he don't cook it.

Stouffer's frozen TV dinner.

The local cafeteria is usually open on Thanksgiving Day, so I'll eat my holiday meal there, but on Christmas, even that is closed, so I usually wind up heating up and eating something frozen on Christmas.

Wait! Sex? Why wasn't I informed about this? More importantly, why wasn't my wife told about this before we got hitched? I'm gonna write a strongly worded letter to...someone. :teddyr:

Thanks for taking my comment in the silly and flippant manner in which it was intended!  Now if only my wife doesn't read it . . . .

Wedding Cake will and has killed many a womans sex drive. It goes from taking a drive to taking a nap. If it wasn't for the internet most men would never get any sex at all. :buggedout:
