Title: Not Exactly a movie per se...
Post by: The Locust on December 27, 2007, 02:40:09 PM
Can anybody tell me the name of the show where they DID show bad movies, and the host was a country-type guy, with western shirts usually, and he was in a lounge chair in front of a trailer.  He would always give a "body count" of sorts, listing dead bodies, decapitations, sex scenes, and the like. Anyone Know the program? It was on later in the evening, like Up All Night on USA.
Thanks, You guys are great!!!

And if you liked the show, don't forget to check out Briggs' seminal volumes of drive-in film criticism, JOE BOB GOES TO THE DRIVE-IN and JOE BOB GOES BACK TO THE DRIVE-IN.  I quote him all the time.

Thanks guys! Do those books you mentioned have any of the stuff from the shows?  The things that always cracked me up were the "Body Count" stuff, Like " 2 Lopped arms, Chainsaw Fu, Crematorium Fu etc." Or does anyone know where and if those are still around?
Thanks again.

Yep, in the later reviews he does the body & breast count and a list of the various "fus."  His original column covered movies made from about 1981 to 1988.  They look like they're available on Amazon.  Anything without "Drive-In" in the title may be interesting (like the "Profoundly Disturbing" and "Profoundly Erotic" books) but they aren't written "in character."
