Lately, I've been looking into lake monster movies, craptacular as all that I've seen are. So far, I've only managed to watch Monster, Legend of Dinosaurs and Monster Birds, and The Crater Lake Monster, all of which were pretty much ass, although LoDaMB gets points for being a nostalgic movie for me. So, can anyone recommend me some, good and bad?
INCIDENT AT LOCH NESS is a fascinating fake documentary by Warner Herzog - definitely worth a watch! I got suckered into it for awhile - thinking it was a real documentary, that is.
Would oversized crocodile and/or alligator flicks like Lake Placid count?
death curse of Tartu / Stinger of Death (http://www.eccentric-cinema.com/cult_movies/tartu_sting.htm) though I guess they are more Swamp monsters.
Get thee to a copy of Rana: The Legend of Shadow Lake (http://thegreatwhitedope.blogspot.com/2005/07/rana-legend-of-shadow-lake-1975.html). Directed by bad movie legend Bill Rebane and loaded to the gills (heh) with all sorts of non-actors. Even better if you like "Swan Lake". :teddyr:
How about Piranha? It's not exactly a lake but it's water based.
Beneath Loch Ness - pretty awful
Bog - ditto awful
Magic in the Water - I remember this being kiddie glurg
The Loch Ness Horror - this is one I have been meaning to see
Creepshow 2 - The Raft is a great segment
I forgot to include Creepshow 2, which I bought a couple months back. The Loch Ness Horror I believe I saw when I was young, but I don't quite remember.
Beyond Loch Ness (http://www.scifi.com/beyondlochness/)
This actually looks kind of good. Next Saturday may or may not be fun. We shall see.

Yeah, the Raft is a good one. I remember being bugged out after seeing that one.
Does ZOMBIE LAKE count? You know...the awful Nazi /zombie thing...?
Loch Ness Horror is excruciatingly boring.
I was going to recommend Dragon Blue but I can't remember if it lived in the ocean or a lake.
The Creature From Black Lake. 1976
Fun little low budget film... Check it Out!!
hahaha andrew beat me to it. BOG is horrible, but they're are some funny parts but its mostly boring. i caught the end of some lochness flick wiht ted danson not to long ago, i mean as far as lochness monster movies go it wasnt to bad.
A pretty decent film that pops up fairly often in "what was that film" folder is THE QUEST (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0091810/), starring E.T. child star Henry Thomas.
well.hhmmm...let's think...there's the day it came to earth..it's really awful, and it has george goebbel!and then there's any of the creature from the black lagoon movies, they don't seem to involve the ocean...i'll have to think a bit,and check some of my books for you...very good question, btw!
Frankenfish, though that's more of a bayou than a lake.
How about Demon of Paradise?
I guess you could check out the comic book based "MAN-THING" which is an ok movie.
