I vote that in Dodge City (1939) (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0031235/). It was very...thorough.

A tie between the final fight in Commando and Cobra. :bouncegiggle:
The fight scene below is widely considered to be one of the longest and most brutal ever filmed.
Put on the glasses!

Beat me too it Ash, that fight between Rowdy Roddy and Keith David in They Live! has to have been the longest fight between two guys I've ever seen in a film. It gets to the point where you wish the hell they'd get done already.
The fight scene at the end of Blazing Saddles was pretty nifty :teddyr:

You beat me to it, Ash.
I'm partial to the fight between Stalker and Pighead Man near the end of Deathstalker. It doesn't last too long, but it's brutal.

John Saxon is so amazing. :bouncegiggle:
I could watch Jackie Chan fight scenes all day, as such I'd like to nominate his mighty brawl against the axe wielding gang in
Drunken Master 2/Legend of the Drunken Master (which I couldn't find a clip of, oddly enough...), and this classic from
Rumble in the Bronx!

I'm a sucker for anything with Sonny Chiba. This fight scene from The Street Fighter is one of my favorites if only for the x-ray shot.
I was looking for the kickass finale of The Street Fighter but couldn't find it on YouTube. Oh well.
Quite possibly the most ridiculous, but awesome, fight scene ever...(I don't care what anyone says, Godfrey Ho is a genius)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T_tiBGOEoVM
And the final fight scene in Versus kicks all kinds of ass...http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AXqDOmnGsH0

It was on a few days ago and I could kick myself for not watching it!
They Called Him Bulldozer - Not the greatest fight ever, but probably the best brawl from any late 1970s Bud Spencer movie. Spencer Vs. Joe Bugner ...

1941 has a pretty good barroom brawl scene...
They may not serious contenders, but I remember the fights in the Eastwood films "Every Which Way But Loose" (1978) and "Any Which Way You Can" (1980) being both long and pretty brutal:

Another good one is the final fight in the Charles Bronson / Walter Hill film "Hardtimes" (1975):

When the little kid fights in Jet Li's The Enforcer.
Nobody mentioned the airplane fight in Raiders of the Lost Ark. That's a pretty kick-ass American style brawl.
Now that I mentioned Walter Hill, "The Warriors" has some great brawls:

Specially the fight in the bathrooms of the subway station:
