Title: Zoltan, Hound of Dracula
Post by: lester1/2jr on January 21, 2008, 10:33:56 AM
I sometimes wonder what an album or movie would be like if it were the only one I'd ever seen.  Like if there were only 90 movies available in the world instead of 90 triillion.  Would the New Kids sound like Beethoven?

I think I would not be that big of a horror fan if the only movie I had seeen of that genre was this "Zoltan, hound of dracula" which I have been calling "Zoltan hound of Satan" for months.  even reading the title in my queue once a day I kept thinking that was the title.  I must be getting old.  anyway,  despite a decent dark synthezier and occasionally funky soundtrack and a menacing villain with evil if campy menacing dog attacking at his order, this doesn;'t  deliver.  the victims of Zoltan scarcly break a sweat in battling him.  Most of the cast isn't ever in any real danger.  There is no suspense or tension.   Though the dog is pretty talented, the writer is not.  The "final battle" is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen.

Is the same movie as "Devil Dog:  Hound From Hell"?  Does it have Richard Crenna in it?

Nope.  This is a different movie.  I bought the DVD a few years ago and it is truly bad.  This one stars Michael Pataki and Reggie Nalder.  It was a theatrical release, as opposed to "Devil Dog," which was a TV movie.

I rolled off the couch and into the floor laughing my ass off at that final shot of the vampire puppy. Despite superimposing some red over his eyes, there was no way they could make that cute little guy look mean and evil. :bouncegiggle:
