I can't make up my mind if this is so bad and stupid it's good or if it's just bad and stupid, I think the latter. This had some of the absolute worst acting I've ever seen ... EVER SEEN, hear me I've seen some stinkers. They had a $6 million dollar budget, they could have used at least $20 of it to hire at least one professional actor. Ok they did hire Peter Coyote who slept walked through his bit and the young kid actor ... oh please. I know this was a bit of a comedy parody of the original, but at least put a little effort into it, it was just sad. Then some how they came up with some sort of hybrid super zombie Borg, that looked more Borg than zombie with their Gatlin gun/circler saw arms, I was waiting for John Luc Picard to show up and tell me I would be assimilated. Interestingly the zombies had more logic and reason than the humans, some just ran around crying "Brains" and yet others could carry one full conversations.
So if you are in the mood for a seriously lame zombie film check this one out, I'm sure it will let you down. I might watch it again to make sure I'm being fair to the film, but as of right now I'm thinking "I watched this crap and I could have been napping?! I've been robbed!"
*/***** and I'm being kind. (We really need a slime or star smilie)
It's just bad and stupid.
The one sole decent idea here, the living dead in Chernobyl, is not followed up on in any particular way. The story is non-existent; the entire movie is teenagers raiding a zombie-driven corporation. The acting is abysmal, including Peter Coyote who sports a bizarre grimace in every scene. The zombies are a joke--gone are the days of the impossible to stop zombies from the first movie. Even the super-zombies at the end die easily.
Worst of all, the humor is not funny.
Basically a pile of poo, of that we are in agreement. I gave up on the idea of attempting to watch the fifth film.
I saw this back to back with "Rave to Grave" (Which was a bad idea I lost some brain cells). Not much to say that it was paniful to watch. Though I did like "Rave to The Grave" a little bit more but thats like saying "Which would you rather be: Shot or Stabbed".
One of the worst zombie flicks that I've ever been subjected to (and that's saying a WHOLE lot!)
Yeah---awful! You could write a whole book on the mistakes made in this movie. For instance, When the dopey kids mount a rescue, they are riding thier motorcycles to the plant..it is clearly early afternoon, yet when they arrive, it is suddenly nighttime.
When I bought the 1st "Return of the Living Dead" the dumb lady accidentaly put the Necropolis disc in the Return of the living dead box. I had to go back and make her switch it, but I was comletely ignorant as to how hated this movie was. Looks like I dodged a bullet.
this movie was so terrible...
I hated it too. The only way I can explain it is that maybe it was meant to be a parody, but parodies have to be clever, and this was insipid.
Like Mofo said, it's just bad and stupid.

....and unforgivable! How dare they ruin a perfectly good franchise!

I think it stopped being a "perfectly good franchise" when they made part 3.
I saw this one about a few months ago and I'll be damned if I remember anything about it other than the high tech zombies at the end of the film. Not a good sign for the fortitude of this movie.
