Title: Anybody Seen Blood Diner?
Post by: Patient7 on February 02, 2008, 12:35:40 AM
Okay, so my main idea here is that people can discuss and talk about some bad films that we've seen, but can't review because either we're too lazy, or we can't find the movie.  So, has anybody seen the movie Blood Diner, yeah, pretty weird.

I love that movie!  My friend Andy taped it off of Cinemax years ago, and that's the only copy we have to watch.  It's getting quite worn.

I've heard that this movie is supposed to be a stinker and is nothing but a cheap ripoff of some other better movie (Blood Feast?), but I like it nonetheless.  I don't like 'real' horror movies, but I love comedic ones like this movie.  I especially like the scene where the one guy keeps running over that biker with his van only to have him get up again.

Even though I bought the excellent German R2 DVD of Blood Diner I'm still not a huge fan of the movie. Had its moments, but I usually get a bit annoyed by the "comedy".

Not a rip-off so much as a parody of Blood Feast. Blood Diner's like this twisted little Troma-type movie without actually carrying the Troma banner, much like Street Trash. A lot of fun and I've been meaning to get around to doing a new review for it.

A lot of people love to rag on this movie, but I remember enjoying it quite a bit.   But then again I've never seen a movie with a talking brain in a jar that I disliked.  (I'm talking de-skulled brains only; I've seen plenty of stinkers featuring entire heads in jars).

I think it's pretty awesome. I love when the detective chick throws that cheeseburger at his mooning butt and he farts right as it hits. I always have to rewind and do a double take. Blood Diner probably makes a better impression when you've seen Blood Feast first. Perhaps that makes the humor more appreciable. That fat dude who always comes into the diner cracks me up as well. When he does that little giggle about the "Tuesday surprise"  :teddyr:

I haven't seen Blood Feast 2 either, but I picked it up brand new at a local street fair for, literally, $2 a few years ago. No tax or anything, brand new for $2. I haven't read much, but what I have read generally makes it out to be a true stinker, and not in the fun way that the original was. Of the two "50 years later" HG Lewis remakes, I was surprised to hear more people I know are happier with 2001 Maniacs than BF2.

Funny, funny, funny :teddyr: I love to see a movie that just embraces its genre so well. Out of the two movies I've seen this week, Blood diner had a clearer plot line (anybody else get confused by Black Christmas?) One of the brothers really reminded me of Burt Reynolds and was almost cooler than the uncle-in-a-jar. Uncle-in-a-jar, get one at a store near you today! The detective also got me with his nasally voice and terrible lines, way to go. And s**taar was, I must say, one of best portrayals of over-acted evil and shenanigans that I've ever seen, nice teeth  :tongueout:

I must see this movie now. I can't pass up a film with a talking brain in a jar.

Well strap yourself in, because THIS brain in a jar spends a bit of time talking to a corpse about his manhood.

I just finished watching this on my local cable's free on demand thing.  Its absurd and crude humor was actually kind of funny at times ("Hey baby, right before I stick my big sausage in you, what do they call ya?"), and weird characters like the rival diner owner with the weird alter-ego dummy, and the obese vegetarian food critic were entertaining.

Of course it's not masterpiece and a lot of it doesn't work, but it's some silly fun.  I'm surprised by its low rating on IMDB (3.4).

That reminds me, I just got a copy of Joe Bob Briggs' Profoundly Disturbing and I'm surprised he didn't mention this film in the section on Blood Feast.
