If you're dumb enough to walk into a lightpole, you fully deserve what you get.  I just cannot fathom why anyone would want to prevent that.  If I were running things, I'd have the word "MORON" printed in mirror image, in non-drying ink on all the lightposts.  If someone walking into one, they'd have it stamped across their forehead for the remainder of the day.  Or week, month, whatever.
