Title: Deathwatch
Post by: Sister Grace on March 07, 2008, 06:40:28 AM
I rented Deathwatch the other night, and i have to say i was really impressed. Has anyone else seen this gem? Its a WW2 supernatural thriller, some english soldiers get stuck behind enemy lines and hide out in an abandoned german trench. When they first get there, bodies are stacked everywhere and it looks as if the germans killed them own-selves off. Paranoia starts setting in and the acting is great and believable for most of the soldiers, of course you had the one guy whom i pretty sure wanted to go into shakespearin acting and didnt make it and he was a little too dramatic.. the sets and atmosphere were very well put together. I won't say anymore, i don't want to spoil it for those that havent' had a chance to watch it yet, but this is one i'll definitely have to purchase to add to my library.

This was a really good movie  The acting, costume and set work were all well done and the feeling that something is very wrong comes over you from the moment the band of soldiers come across the bunker and just stays there. A great paranoia film because there's nothing more dangerous than a bunch of nervous guys with guns.

Deathwatch didn't do much for me, except for making me stare at my fingers while the movie was playing. I had the "fortune" of watching Deathwatch back to back with the very similar The Bunker (2001) - which bored me even more. I'd rather wait for Paramount to release The Keep (1983) on DVD but I'm not holding my breath
