I guess you could call them comfort foods also. I was inspired to start this post while sitting at the computer eating saltines. I can eat a whole pack in one sitting and not even realize it. It made me wonder how much I've eaten in a lifetime. I'm pretty much the same way with preztles and popsicles (even in the winter). Whats your favorite lifelong foods?
Jay's potato chips (http://www.jaysfoods.com/ni_potatochips.asp) which, alas, may soon be no more. (They are in bankruptcy proceedings.)
Perhaps not actually "snack food" per se, but ramen noodles, especially Maruchan Ramen (http://www.maruchan.co.jp/).
Oh what the heck, I can't go without mentioning Vienna Beef hot dogs (http://www.viennabeef.com/).
Planters dry-roasted peanuts.

I eat them all the time and usually keep my cupboard stocked with a couple of extra jars so I don't run out.
I'm particularly fond of the TastyKake variety of cakes, including KandyKakes, TastyKake Pies, and KandyKake Cupcakes.

Since being a kid in the 70's:
Doritos Nacho cheese corn chips
Pretzels
Cheeze-Its
Pringles
Since being a teen in the 80's:
Funyuns
Doritos Cool Ranch corn chips
Skittles
Beef Jerky
These days one will find at least four of those in my snack closet at any one time. Yes, I am a junk food-aholic.
Sour Cream and Onion Pringles, Garden Salsa Sun Chips, and BBQ Lays. As for snack cakes, Twinkies, Cupcakes, and Snowballs.
When I was in Canada I was very partial to corn nuts. But I can't find them in this country :bluesad:
Other than that, I love French Fry sticks. Which are potato chips, cut into thin sticks.
Cheese Twisties - Long, slightly deformed looking cheese snacks made from corn and rice. I also don't mind the chicken flavoured ones.
Space Food Sticks - not sure exactly what these things are, but they are chewy sticky candy concoctions. They're older than me :buggedout: and I remember loving them as a kid. The big deal was that they supposedly are based on the food that astronauts take with them into space. They come in 2 flavours - Caramel and chocolate. I always preferred caramel.
Lolly Gobble Bliss Bombs - popcorn clumps smothered in chewy sticky caramel toffee and I think they might have peanuts in them as well.
Crispy M & Ms - no more explanation needed.
Cinnamon Scrolls - pastry rolled into a carpet like tube and then cut into chunks smothered in sugar syrup and cinnamon. You generally only get them at the bakers.
That's all I can think of right now. For the record, I don't eat this stuff any more - haven't for a very long time. I love all those foods, but they don't love me. And honestly, it's not worth jumping up a couple of dress sizes just for snack food.
I wish I was one of those people who was bean pole thin and can eat anything I like. :bluesad:
Corn Nuts...ugh!
I used to love 'em until I ate an entire bag of them (ranch flavor) and then did shots of Jim Beam with my friends.
Lets just say that when I puked my guts out later, it wasn't pretty.
I've never eaten them since.
When I was down in Australia, I had this snack called Burger Rings.
They're kind of like cheeseburger flavored Funyuns and were darn tasty!
I wish they sold them here in the U.S.

Sorry Ash, but that made me smile. First genuine one I've had today. :teddyr: :bouncegiggle:
I can still pretty much eat what snack foods I had as a kid. There is just one thing that I can't find here anymore: orange flavoured chocolate bars. I know that might sound gross, but it isn't.
I have always been a trail mix fan so I usually buy a bag or two at the grocery store for work.

Oh no I'm not southern.
I also like Salt and Pepper Chips.
1) Cow Tails- Soft Caramel and creme filling
2) Pork Pie- Can't get them but in English-related countries. When I travel, I always try and get my fill, but its been 2 years.
3) Most peanut butter things.
4) Bugles- orignal corn flavor
I like to visit convience storeres once in a while to take the snack food pulse of th world. You never know what you will find.
Hey 'Bees...try a gas station type convience store. Corn nuts are pretty ubiquitous, theres some in the vending machine in the hall.

Potato chips.
Circus Peanuts. I haven't had them in years, for a while I totally lost my sweet tooth and am just now getting it back.
Granola Bars, chocolate covered caramel ones and chocolate covered chocolate chip ones are my faves but I also like Apple Cinnamon ones. Love Vachon cakes especially half-moons and my newest find, Miami cookies. YUM!! MacIntosh Toffee I've had a terrible weakness for since I was a kid. Love M & M Minis too. And Jersey Milk Bars.
My weirdest snack is probably having two tins of Vienna canned sausages which I like to warm in a bowl in the microwave.
I forgot to mention Recee's Cups, Charleston Chews, and Nestle Crunch. OH! And Rice Krispie Treats.

Of course, Burger Rings! How could I forget? They are da schiznit.
Wouldn't say it's a 'comfort food' or junk food or anything, but I've been having a bunch of milkshakes lately.
I work at a restaurant (small mom and pop type of chain here) with a selection of like, 50-60 milkshake options. Damn they're good.
Used to love Mallo Cups, but haven't seen those 'round here in a very long time.
When I was in the mood for dry cookie and sweet sugar, I went for the Oreo competitor, Hydrox. I also like Vienna Fingers and the blonde Oreos, which I haven't seen for at least a decade, probably longer. I must not forget VAN-O-LUNCH, a blonde dry biscuit with thin sugary "creme" center (like Oreo). They were typically found in vending machines, and the Foodtown near my home sells them in mini-cases of 6 pkgs with 6 cookies each... I won't eat any of that stuff anymore, but I think my body is built on that sh!t. Okay, I did polish of 36 Van-O-Lunch a few weeks ago... and I still buy FRITOS every six weeks or so. :teddyr:
Jujy Fruits. I love them...but I shouldn't...hard on the old choppers.
All time favorite...onion bagels and cream cheese! hmmmmmm

For a little bit I really wanted was milkshakes, so I used to get Milkshakes like every other day or so during my lunch break.
Another snack food I love:

I might be in the minority on it, but I like them.

Really? I was never really into them until recently. Put on five pounds, but eh, I enjoy them. I've tried to cut back.

This was just a few weeks ago. I stopped that only after a week or so of having them.
All my life?
Fruit and berries. I love apples, oranges, bananas, mango, pears, peaches, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries.
Toasted bread with peanut butter and honey on top, with a glass of milk.
For decadent, mint chocolate chip ice cream or Reese's Cups (or, this time of year, Reese's peanut butter eggs).
Nachos, popcorn, and Jelly Bellies are my weakness... That and Chinese food.

JUJY FRUITS! Almost bought a box today, but knew that if I did, I'd finish tonight and decided to be good (and only bought a bag of LAYS Potato Chips...) :tongueout:
Not sure I've loved them all my life, but as far back as I can remember, I've digged Gardettos Snack'Ens. They're a bit on the pricey side though, and not available in too many stories.

As far as fruits go, my personal favorites are plums and oranges. Get them whenever I get to the supermarket.
You like Reese's Cups? We have Reese's cups milkshakes at work. We don't actually put them in the shakes, but use our own ingredients, and damn if it isn't good. Like drinking a Reese's. Decent.
Candy wise I'm with Happy Gilmore, Peeps are good, real good. All my life, I've enjoyed most Wonka kind of candies like Runts, Nerds, Bottle Caps, etc. I usually allow myself to eat them on my diet because they're fat free. Carbs don't seem to effect me much. I recall my godmother always having the soft pepermint candies which brings me back to good old days whenever I eat them.
I'm also a lifelong Wheat Thin addict. Especially the reduced fat ones.
Childhood food addictions I wish I could eat regularly but don't due to my low fat diet;
Devil Dogs-this is a major one. From elementary school lunch to a few years ago I packed one with every lunch.
Reeses Peanut Butter Cups
Oreos

I agree about the Wonka stuff. Love the Bottle Caps, but haven't had them in years.
I love Nerd Ropes. If you haven't had them, try it.
