Title: Weirdest movie moments.
Post by: Patient7 on March 27, 2008, 07:51:50 PM
When have you ever had to stop the movie and just say, "What?"

In Drive-Thru when the girl is running through the school and there is NOBODY there as she is being attacked.

Lifeforce when Carlson attacks Patrick Stewart.

Hideous when the one girl is walking around in the cold without a top on.

That's all for now but I'm sure I'll find more soon enough.

I did that through Ice Queen.

The "gorgeous" chick was botoxed and siliconed to within an inch of her life so she looked like a blow up doll.  Stuck under a crumbling ski chalet at the base of a snowy mountain with night falling and after a massive avalanche, no less, she was wearing 4 inch heels (!), a tight pencil skirt and a form fitting cashmere sweater.  She acted half heartedly like she was cold, but not once did any ice crystals form on her extremties or her hair and her skin stayed rosy pink, lipstick and mascara in place the whole time.

She even managed to run through bent and broken corridors and climb over debris in those heels without tripping once or breaking any part of the shoes.

- The bizarre hermaphrodite Caveman/Messiah scene at the end of "The Final Programme" .
- The graveyard nightmare in "Plague Of The Zombies".
- The "Starchild" ending of "2001".
-The huge Martian/Devil towering over the London skyline in "Quatermass And The Pit".
- "Djanjo Kill" - Tomas Milian emerging from the mass grave at the beginning, the lynch mob attack on the outlaw gang in "The Unhappy Place", the 'surgery' by the townsfolk on Oates the Gang leader to remove the gold bullets, El Zorro talking to his drunken parrot and eventually shooting it.
- Thug being melted by toxic waste in "Robocop".
- Dave Wanderly's plummetting death in "Ghost Story".

My favourite "What?" moment in a film is in Nightmare On Elm Street 3 where John Saxon and Craig Wasson are battling a burnt skeleton (Freddy's, I think): John Saxon hisses "It's really you!" and the skeleton turns, looks at him and nods.  :teddyr:

Hard Rock Zombies from intro to outro.  Although the oddest moment is when the town decides to attack the zombies using giant celebrity heads.

I was watching Mortal Kombat and at the end of the credits they had a disclaimer saying that any similarity between actual names and EVENTS is purely coincidental.  What is that all about?

Fred Olen Ray's disclaimer at the beginning of "Hollywood Chainsaw Hookers" is pretty amusing.

That was insane  :bouncegiggle:

"This guy just came out of nowhere and attacked me!"

"Oh did I? Well see ya"

"See ya"

I will find this movie someday!

Haha, RC reminded me of probably one of my favorites! Classic.

Wtf moments off the top of my skull:

-the "PANCAKES" scene in Cabin Fever

-Tom Savini's head being turned into slush in Maniac

-three words from Beyond Re-Animator: rat versus penis

-Linnea Quigley's nipple eats a tube of lipstick in Night of the Demons

"Django kill" is sure full with such moments  :buggedout:

I'm not that surprised when siomething unexpected happens on a movie screen. It's one of the things I miss about watching movies. Still, one of the best times was during "Tank Girl". Lori Petty is shooting the tank main gun against Malcolm McDowell and runs out of ammo. She picks a case of beer cans and starts shooting them instead of shells. And McDowell just hits every single one of them with his roboarm, and puts on a face that just screams: Bring 'em on!

Pretty much every minute of Eraserhead
A large portion of Naked Lunch
The worm-eating scene in Kabukiman NYPD
The lizard vs mouse scene in Tromeo and Juliet
The vomit  eating scene in Bad Taste
The fisting scene in Caligula

Night of the Demons: must-see for any viewer of '80s b-movies. The sequels? Not so much, but not without some modicum of entertainment value.

Girl chased by killer in BodyCount (1986). She hides in an old abandoned bathinghouse and takes off her clothes. wtf?

#1 There was no water in the bathinghouse, so there was no reason to strip.
#2 Then why take off your clothing when chased by a deranged killer?

I guess only director Ruggero Deodato knows the answer to that.

I really love Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life, but I can never quite buy it when she twats that shark in the face and rides it to the surface. Hahah...

I have another one: every single scene in "Our Lady of the Assassins". It's a film about an homosexual writer who hooks up with a teen hitman in MedellĂn. They spend the whole film arguing with other bystanders, discussions that invariably end with the boy shooting them, and now and then the writer throws expensive electronics out of the window of his flat, then asking the boy "if I hit anybody". Priceless.

When those dudes sabotage their underwater vehicle... thingies... so she has no oxygen or transport from that underwater temple, and so she cuts herself to attract a shark with the blood, then when it approaches her, she gives it a punch in the face, so it flees and she grabs onto it and catches a lift on it as it swims to the surface. Just seemed really stupid compared to the rest of the movie, which is awesome.

I wonder if our British friend is aware that the fine English word "twat" has a totally different meaning on this side of the pond.

I was kind of thinking that.  Only more along the lines of, "That can be used as a verb? :buggedout:"  or, "What was she doing to that shark and how did she do it?  :buggedout:"

Totem.  Some kids are trapped in a cabin, attacked by killer dolls.  To add some backstory, they splice in footage from an old Viking movie.  I don't know if the demonic dolls beamed it into the character's head, in which case, why was it so grainy?  Just, I dunno.  And this movie has absolutely nothing to do with Vikings.

Showdown at Area 51.  Aliens have this massive invasion fleet in orbit above Earth.  Dozens of ships, some the size of cities.  But the humans destroy some thingie, so the whole invasion fleet immediately turns around and heads home.  No discussion, no "Well, gee, we've got enough firepower to destroy the planet ten times over, maybe we don't need the thingie".  Nothing.  Just "Oh, they broke our thing.  Let's go".

The Thing From Another World.  There's an alien spaceship frozen under the ice, so they plant a few thermite charges, and it completely obliterates the entire spaceship.  I mean, WTF?  Was the whole spaceship made out of gas-soaked rags or something?  I could see doing some major damage to the hull, but...it's just entirely disintegrated?

:bouncegiggle: Yes, it means that here, too. But it can be used for other stuff, and I think it sounds rather funny in that context. :twirl:

Attack of the Sabretooth (2004) - when the sabertooth sculpture's fang goes through the bad guy's head and it goes all cartoony .

Supercroc (2007) - the "screen is blurry so we don't have to do the CGI right" scene.

In their defense, this happened in the short story the movie is based on - but it was explained there.  Apparently the hull was made out of magnesium or something.

That reminds me of Ace Rimmer (Chris Barrie) 'Croc-surfing' to earth from an exploding plane in Red Dwarf!

I was watching My Name is Nobody the other night, again, and though the movie is filled with some scenes that are particularly odd for a western, the one that just stands out as a WTF moment is the urinal scene. That scene is actually cut from some prints of the film.

Actually, many scenes from "Nobody" could qualify. The best ones include the opening fishing sequence, the whiskey drinking/shooting challenge and the bizarre hat shooting standoff. Essentially, this film is seen largely through the eyes of a childlike adult who lives in a fantasy world. I love Fonda's reactions to him, especially when they first meet at the river.
