I just bought and watched this. When Johnny Cage punched Goro in his particulars, brilliant!!! :buggedout:
I like it. A good example of "so bad its good." But my one real problem with the movie is that the killed Reptile.
It's definitely superior to Mortal Kombat 2 (I can't spell :drink:) I like how nothing is bogged down by reason because I doubt the studio's take on why any of the characters could do what they did would be very good snifflebloodraynesniffle.
Mortal Kombat isn't all that bad, especially considering it's a video game movie. It's definitely worlds better than Mortal Kombat: Annihilation.
MKA blew chunks. Hard.

Agreed. I still to this day say that the first Mortal Kombat film is still one of the best movies based on a video game to date.
MKA suffered from a lot of things, which if I wrote, would be fairly long in length since I have lots and lots of problems with it.

Yeah, I'm watching that next weekend. To argue though, Jax is in it. Don't mess with Jax.

I honestly have a problem sitting through that movie. I've made it through movies that some would consider awful, like Return of the Killer Tomatoes, Tiger Heart, and Captain America, but MKA is a movie, that as a Mortal Kombat fan and a b-movie fan, just throw my head back in disgust.

It took me a few sittings to finish MKA myself. It was hard to sit through it, as I could decide if I should be sick or rip my eyeballs out of their sockets.
TBS shows it occasionally, usually in a late time slot, like Friday night/early Saturday AM like, 3:30 or at 6:00. Probably as a sleep inducer for all the people coming in from the bar (like myself) who needs something quick to fall asleep to.
Once in a while they'll show both MK flicks back to back as a double feature on a Sunday afternoon as well. I watch MK in full and MKA in snippets.

I watched MKA last night, it sucked so hard my head hurt afterwards.

It sucked so hard it makes The Pest an almost bearable movie to watch.
And that's coming from someone who likes The Pest.
Mortal Kombat is a fun movie, I'd have maybe prefered if they focused more on certain characters (it'd probably be scorpion and subzero because they are very marketable) because it would change from characters a lot without going into very much depth but still a fun movie to watch with your buddies and shout stuff at. I've never heard anyone at all say anything good about Anhilation, I like badmovies (obviously why else would i be here) but i've heard it's not 'fun' bad it's just unwatchable so unless it comes on TV one day (which it doens't seem to) I'll probably never bother watching it.
I've always liked the 1st Mortal Kombat movie. Saw it in theaters actually. The 2nd one however is one of the worst movies that I've ever seen.
The 1st film is one of the better video game to film adaptations that's been done to date, though most of those have sucked big time.
I particularly thought that the actress who played Bridgette Wilson who played Sonya was gorgeous IMO.
Well done fight scenes and they actually stuck to the game a lot more than other films of this type have done.
Jade isn't in the movie but I have this gif so might as well post it y'know

If you have TNT/TBS, check there for Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. I've seen it pop up on those two channels most frequently. Especially on the weekends, when they do all movie days. Usually I see it in early mornings, like, 8AM or at a late hour, like, 1AM.
MORTAL KOMBATTTT!
Sorry, couldn't resist. I like this movie, I never thought much of the game (I was a Street Fighter fan). But its a fun film, and I still like way the multi-armed evil guy turned out in the movie.

Goro. He's awesome.
I liked both Street Fighter and MK. The Street Fighter movie sucked.
The third movies been in prepoduction for what seems like forever now. Its supposed to surplant MK:Anihilation as the sequel to the first. Which seems strange because it will most likely have more new actors playing the previous roles, new style of action (either in the style of the Matix, or more hopefully the style of films like The Transporter) I wish they could just get started on it already. Or maybe I don't. In the previous two movies my favorite character were killed. Reptile in the first, Smoke and Baraka in the second. Poor Kabal only was mentioned as being killed.
I think as a video game movie Mortal Kombat was better than Street Fighter. Mortal Komabat stayed much closer to the characters than the Street Fighter movie.
Right now, the only thing Mortal Komabt has on the horizion is a crossover video game with DC comics. The trrailer shows Sub-Zero fighting Batman.
The 2D Mortal Kombat games are awesome. The 3D ones blow.
As for the movie. I enjoyed the first one, it wasn't great, but it wasn't terrible. The second was crap.

Depending on the budget (and if it gets made), I'd love to see some stuff with Cyrax and Sektor.
Mortal Kombat was a great movie when I was a kid, it doesn't seem to have aged well. I watched it a couple of week ago and it was meh to me. MK 2 sucked hard, I don't think I even finished watching that one.
