I've heard rumors for a few years, but it seems like this might actually become a reality soon . . .
Captain America Movie Finally on Marvel's Horizon
By John Scott Lewinski May 05, 2008 | 5:58:00 PMCategories: Comics, Movies, Sci-Fi
As Marvel Comics superheroes have heated up the big screen, a major character in the publisher's canon has remained frozen. A perfect arrangement of unfortunate circumstances has kept Captain America on the sidelines while the X-Men, Spider-Man and Fantastic Four series rolled around in piles of cash.
The general political atmosphere in Hollywood makes patriotic, pro-military characters a tough sell, and the decision-makers perceive an anti-American sentiment worldwide due to the ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Unless a studio was to pit the shield-wielding supersoldier against an evil Republican, the pervasive, politically correct environment would prove more able to stop the Captain than Johann Shmidt.
But, one thing trumps politics in the movie business, and that's money. With Iron Man setting box office records, Marvel Entertainment announced a full slate of new films, two of which will finally thaw Steve Rogers.
The First Avenger: Captain America will arrive in 2011, according to the Marvel press release, and a proposed Avengers movie that same year would include the Captain, Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, etc. Thor should get his own feature in 2010, while an Iron Man sequel is all but assured.
Finally, an Ant Man movie is supposedly in development somewhere. But, he's too small for most fans to care.
2010,....2011...gawd...them is big numbers. I saw 2001 in 1969,and that was the wild future! And according to Nostrodamus, the world was supposed to end in 1980...so THAT really disapointed me...cuz I was READY,DAMMIT!!! Arg! :hatred:
Yep, Captain America, Thor are both getting made. I can't wait. And if you stay past the credits of Iron Man you get an idea of where Marvel Comics is taking these movies. Long story short they seem to want to create a movie universe with their characters. As a comic book reader, this is very exciting to me.
Shame that DC (Marvel's cheif compeitor) can't seem to get it together when it comes to movies. They'll make Batman and Superman, sure, but the completely changed Catwoman. Wonder Woman and Justice League of America are lost in limbo.
Well, if they can keep the quality of the new Captain America movies up to the standards of all the other Captain America live-action movies that have been made, I'm sure we're all in for smooth sailing.

So, now I now what you did in 1980. In your own words:
"I'm gonna sit on the roof of my house and drop LSD. With my shotgun. and a CD player playing the RAMONES 'Howling at the Moon'. In my underpants.
I can hardly wait!"

I probably would have joined if I wasn't but 5 years old....
Ant man? Why in the world would he be on the short list. Who is next, Dazzler?

I must now play "Howling at the Moon" on the way home from work today.

I think the overwhelming majority of people try to forget that piece of crap came out.
I loved it though.
Yeah, I remember that a turkey. They also made a couple of made for TV movies starring Reb Brown. Thank God that Marvel has finally taken control of the movies made from their comics.
