Yes kids "Tobor the Great" has been released on DVD. The 4th greatest robot of all times ... ok maybe 5th. Oh those clever producers came up with the name TOBOR by spelling ROBOT backwards. It's been far to long since I've seen this to write a review, but if I recall correctly it involved the evil commies trying to steal Tobor for their evil plan in typical 50's style.
Just thought you'd folks like to know an old classic (somewhat) has been released on DVD.

I actually have this on LD. I remember that a kid programs or controls Tobor to defeat the bad guys, right? Been too long since I watched this movie, and I remember thinking it was not great, but an enjoyable robot movie from the period. Thanks for the reminder that the DVD was coming out; it had popped up on the radar months ago, but I forgot.
I don't remember much about the movie itself, but my friends and I must have liked it because we played the movie the next day after church, took turns being the robot, had a great time till my friend Jimmy, feeling invulnerable as the mighty Tobor, jumped of the roof of his family's chicken coop and broke his ankle. We thought this was hysterically funny of course, laughed so much we almost dropped him while carrying him to the back door, sadly Jimmie never saw the humor in this incident.

Great - another movie to look for because of a cool cover....
My dad has been looking for this movie for years. He'll be happy to know it's finally came out on DVD.

That's correct; the kid who is the grandson of one of the inventors was played by
BILLY CHAPIN (who was the kid in
NIGHT OF THE HUNTER) ...haven't seen
TOBOR in many years.
