. . on a TV that got damaged (apparently) from some blackout/brownout problems. This TV has big swirls on the screen where red shows up as blue, blue as green, green as dull red. Well, I have to say that the opening scene, where Barry blows the alien's head apart with the magnum, is MUCH less grotesque when the blood/brains are BLUE. Unfortunately, I fell asleep before the vomit scene, so I don't know what color THAT showed up as. Weird, eh?
Anyways, the effects is the same as what you get when you run a magnet across the screen, anyone have an idea how to fix it? It's been a couple days and hasn't straightened itself out yet. Just as a test, I tried getting a magnet near, and I can CHANGE the pattern, but it really doesn't help (probably making it worse, BTW, this is a CRT).

To fix it, you are going to need to call a TV repairman.
They use a magnet that looks like the head of a metal detector, which they will hold close to the screen and pull it away from the set as they turn it.
Being that it is in the shape you described, I guess you could try it yourself, with a circular doughnut shaped magnet. How much worse can you make it? :buggedout:
You might do a Google search to see if you can find some kind of tutorial on it.
Seems odd that a brownout would cause that; unless someone sat something on top of the TV, which shouldn't have been there, during the brownout.
I thought it was odd also, but the set did go on and off several times in rapid succession.
BTW, the vomit showed up yellow. Weird. .
I had this problem with a tv once. My child was two at the time and loved barney :hatred:. Amazingly he looks and seems even more diabolical when he is a lovely shade of red...

Yea, I took it to an electronics shop, and apparently it degaussed when they turned it on. I had the set off overnight several times, and even unplugged it from AC momentarily, , but something in the ride down there made it decide to degauss once powered back up. All working fine now, I appreciate the info.
