Title: Pilgrims settle in forbidden area with naked mud people that disappear
Post by: Ribbit on June 02, 2008, 12:19:09 PM
Okay, I'm trying to remember this movie I saw in the 80s that was about this group of settlers (possibly puritans) who settled in this area even after the local Native Americans told them *they* wouldn't even live there. I recall some naked mud covered people running across the field at dusk, disappearing and reappearing. Also something about a guy having to chop down a tree to save his wife (I think there were a bunch of trees with faces). At the end, the two little girls are put in a box and sent down river to escape.

IIRC, the cover had a redheaded girl in a hood with trees reaching down all around her. I also think it was towards the end of the alphabet in titles, maybe starting with an S or W? Anybody have ANY idea what this movie was??

Thank you!!
