High Crime (Castellari 1973) 8 stars: Terrific Italian cop movie in the vein of Friedkin's The French Connection. A high strung cop bursts out of the corner every morning with his mob busting gloves on to beat the living s**t out of every single person associated with organized crime. A non-stop action movie with a witty script and dynamic characters. This movie rocks. As another reviewer put it, if all movies were made like this, nobody would get anything done.
This puts me into a genre of films I have little prior experience with: The 'Poliziotteschi.' Italian crime films from the 70's. I have seen one before with good 'ol Klaus Kinski in Gangster's Law (Marcellini 1969), but it was nothing compared to the exquisite quality of High Crime. Can anybody recommend some good Poliziotteschi films?
Mario Bava's "Kidnapped" aka rabid dogs is really good. the DVD has two versions, one by him and one recut by his son. his is the better version
