Title: Cover songs you'd like to hear
Post by: Doc Daneeka on June 12, 2008, 09:10:00 AM
I came up with this topic badly trying to sing like Neil Young, trying to sing a Beatles song. It was then and there that I realized I would love to hear Paul Williams cover the Beatle entire songography... Or maybe Neil Young

In addition, looking up the lyrics, I realized I would like to hear the Smothers Brothers sing "The End"

Dickie: This is the end
Both: Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end
Dickie: Of our elaborate plans, the end
Tom: Of everything that stands, the end
Dickie: No safety or surprise, the end
Tom: I'll never look into your eyes again

Dickie: Can you picture what will be
So limitless and free
Desperately in need of some stranger's hand
In a desperate land

Tom: Lost in a Roman wilderness of pain
And all the children are insane
All the children are insane
Waiting for the summer rain, yeah

Dickie: There's danger on the edge of town
Tom: Ride the king's highway, baby
Dickie: Weird scenes inside the gold mine
Tom: Ride the highway west, baby

Both: Ride the snake, ride the snake
To the lake
The ancient lake, baby
Dickie: The snake he's long, seven miles
Ride the snake
Tom: He's old
And his skin is cold

Both: The west is the best
The west is the best
Dickie: Get here, and we'll do the rest

Both: The blue bus is callin' us
The blue bus is callin' us
Tom: Driver, where you takin' us?

Dickie: The killer awoke before dawn, he put his boots on
He took a face from the ancient gallery
And he walked on down the hall
He went into the room where his sister lived and then he
Paid a visit to his brother and then he
He walked on down the hall and
And he came to a door
And he looked inside
Tom: "Father?"
Dickie: "Yes, son?"
Tom: "I want to kill you"
Tom: "Mother?"
Dickie (High-pitched): "Yes, son?"
Tom: "I want to... BLAAAGH BLAAAAAGGHH!!!"
Dickie: What now, son?
Tom: I-I said "Bllagh Blaaagh"
Both: ... Come on, yeah!

Dickie: C'mon baby, take a chance with us
Tom: C'mon baby, take a chance with us
Both: C'mon baby, take a chance with us and
Meet me at the back of the blue bus
Doin' a blue rock, on a blue bus
Doin' a blue rock, come on, yeah

Tom: Kill, kill, kill, kill, kill

Both: This is the end
Beautiful friend
This is the end
My only friend, the end
Dickie: It hurts to set you free
But you'll never follow me
Tom: The end of laughter and soft lies
The end of nights we tried to die
Both: This is the end

Okay, that was a bit drawn out, but in revenge you guys can make yours as drawn out as you want too. I'm curious to picture covers you'd like to hear, even if I'm not that music savvy.

Let's go!

Jack Black: O Fortuna
Will Smith: Aha
Jack Black: velut luna
Will Smith: Yeah!
Jack Black: statu variabilis,
Will Smith: Can you dig it?
Jack Black: semper crescis;
Will Smith: Yes, you can!
Jack Black: aut decrescis;
Will Smith: Come on, come on!
Jack Black: vita detestabilis
Will Smith: Yeah, yeah!
Jack Black: nunc obdurat
Will Smith: Yes, yes y'all
Jack Black: et tunc curat
Will Smith: You hear all?
Jack Black: ludo mentis aciem
Will Smith: Can you hear all?
Jack Black: egestatem
Will Smith: What?
Jack Black: potestatem
Will Smith: What?
Jack Black: dissolvit ut glaciem.
Will Smith: Let's go!
Jack Black: --(wild guitar solo)--

and so on...

That's of course Jack and Will covering Carmina Burana!

I'd love to hear The Obsessed cover Spinal Tap's "Heavy Duty". Musically and vocally it'd be a perfect match.

I have a recording somewhere of Burton Cummings (formerly of the Guess Who) doing an impression of Gordon Lightfoot singing a Rod Stewart song. Funny as hell. Wish I could find it.

Every time I hear several of Blondie's songs, I can't help but break into a bad Ethel Merman impression as I sing along; I think it's something about them both having very distinct, strong voices. Or else it's something to do with me being a very disturbed individual. Whatever. I also do a bad Lou Costello impression during Boys Don't Cry's "I Wanna Be a Cowboy," with a really bad Katherine Hepburn during the female singer's part of the song.

I want to hear 80s David Bowie cover "Another Brick in the Wall".
