Katie found someone giving away 8 week-old kittens and we now have a cat again. The kids love the cat.
Here's the thing: kitty needs a name. It is a male. I'm suggesting a couple to Katie and the children:
General Tso
Moo Shoo Kitty
Jonesy
Muttonsocks
Omlette
Korova
Foods make the best cat names I think so I'm leaning toward General Tsao. A woman I work with has a cat named Papaya and I named an orange stray that hang out at our house Citrus.
We had four kittens one time - all sisters from the same litter. My sister named them after soap opera characters - Heather, Lindsey, Sammy, and Kristen.
"The Other White Meat". . .
How about "Nasty Little Feline"? or "Flea Bitten Feline"
Actually I've had 2 barns cats, one Shadow and the other Socks ... Shadow has gone to that great litter box in the sky.
How about Shenanigans, there's a nice one.
When we got our cat, he'd been cooped up in a small cage in the animal shelter. He was so desperate to play, he scooted around the house at full speed until he was exhausted, lying on the ground panting. After about a minute, he'd be desperate to play again.
So we named him Scooter.
Try to name him for his personality, or appearance (like Socks), or something.
My cat's name is Fudge (he's big, fat, lazy and slow thus he got dubbed with the name.) I've had him almost fourteen years; unfortunately my daughter has bad allergies, but he gets to stay up the road with mom so i see him everyday.
I like your suggestion of Jonesy.
(after the cat in Alien)
we had a white cat whit orange spots named doggy, because he looked more like a dog then a cat when he was born :teddyr:
the cat we have now is named hairball (roughly transelated from Swedish) because she is a farm cat that looks like / are a Norwegian forest cat
My mom's cat is called Scrounger.
I like the name Keith for a cat, yes Keith...
My last cat that I owned was a male and his name was Toonces. I had to have him put down last October 15th at 17 1/2 years of age, so a lot of people don't remember Toonces the Driving Cat from SNL.
Tiddles the Wonder Cat!
Or if you're a fan of the Duke, call him General Sterling Price.
Minnow Paws :teddyr:
Jet Jaguar. :teddyr:
I second Jonesy, because Jonesy is The Cat Who Lived.

Of the before mentioned I like Jonesy..

My brother had a cat he named Fuzzy Little Basterd. You Basterd for short.
We had a cat named Shadow....he ran away. Tara Sue got another cat- ugh-his name is Dumpster. I call him Dam Ugly...he's missing one eye.
Cougar Lips?
We just got a kitten, which we named Leeloo, and it has since been called by my family members the 'commitment cat'. :hatred:
Normally I'm not a cat person, but I have to admit kittens are pretty darn funny, well were until today.
Cat went psycho after seizing some material that was in the chicken breast packet: that stuff that soaks up liquid? Cant remember the name of that stuff now, but needless to say it's not good for them, and it didn't want to give that stuff up. Put up a huge fight as I tried to get it from the cat's mouth, hissing at me and clawing at me. Finally got it out, but have a nicely banged up hand as thanks for not letting precious kitty get poisoned!
Other than that it's been pretty cool...
A cat once punched me in face!
Actually punched me, no claws, no swipe, just a straight paw right between the eyes!
It was awesome.
Andy, my 3 year-old son, wants to call the cat "Boom-Boom Hot Potato." It's looking like that is quite likely.
Kids are weird.

you could just name him that and call him "Boom-Boom" for short.
Boom Boom Hot Potato sounds like a great name for a cat, or a dog, or any other family pet, Boom Boom Hot Potato Borntregger, it's got a certain lyrical quality to it.
You're right, kids are weird, but if you can keep some of that weirdness as an adult life can be full of wonders.

Now ain't that the truth.
A cat can have as many names as you can give it, but all cat names must be repeated and repeated; Kitty will get you, even if nobody else does. My cat is Francine aka Booboo, kookoohead, pinky loo, lickin' lover, looloo, doodoo, crazy kitty, skinny bones, raggedy-baggedy patchwork pull-tail pinky piehole... and many more, but mostly I call her "Babe...!" :teddyr:

Sounds like my dog, Briar. That's his everyday name. His papers have him as Hidden Creek's Follow Me. But we've been known to call him Boo, Spook, Spoo, Bug, Spookit, Buggitz, Booger, Buddy, Dumbass, Spooky Boo, Spongebob, Spooky Spooky Boo Where Are You, Fuzz, Fuzzball, Doofus, Spoo McBoo, Spooky Spookowitz, Stinky, Baron Von Spookenstein, Kissyface and so forth. Come to think of it, he only gets called Briar about half the time, and always when he's in trouble.

Yes but I can attest for the fact that his teen years will be uneventful. Guess why my posts come up almost every two hours.

Uneventful?? Who said anything 'bout "teenagers...?"
I've always liked the cat's name from PvP (http://www.pvponline.com/):
Scratch Fury, Destroyer of Worlds

My teen years were not entirely uneventful, but I know what you mean. I believe that this unique "weirdness" that we each possess as children is what makes us interesting individuals as adults. We shouldn't let others take our uniqueness away from us.
