Yikes, yikes, yikes  :buggedout: I have to save money each year to have my Fiat serviced and this idiot flies his car to have it serviced?

The name David Price came up in the article: if it is the right one, he was a team manager at LeMans in 1994.

Wouldn't it be easier to fly a certified Lamborghini mechanic to the car?  I mean, even if the whole point is to show everyone how you can throw away money, I'd be pretty worried about shipping a car back and forth just for the number of scratches it would pick up on the way, not to mention some longshoreman takin' it for a spin.

"The Age of Excess" Not the first one. Nor the first millionaire who didn't know what to do with their money. Back in the days of the California Gold Rush, when miners got their clothes dirty, they sent them to a Chinese laundry. But this Chinese laundry wasn't in California. It was in China. I hope the miners had something to wear, while their clothes were at the laundry. And even then, they probably got their shirts back with too much starch in them.

Actually, it was Hawaii where they were sent.

Of course, the story focuses on the environmentalists flipping out.

Personally, I would not do the same if I had the money. But the number of people who are able, and more importantly willing, to do something like this is so small, it is not a major environmental concern. It's newsworthy because it is an extremely rare thing.

Nor is it a bad example, since most of the world just views this as a silly example of some crazy sheik throwing his money around. I picture him as Jamie Farr in the Cannonball Run. I suppose he could put some of that money into carbon indulgences and get away with his excess, much as Saint Albert and many of the other celebrity greenies do.

To be honest, I find the serious environmentalists to be a pretty damned humourless lot. At the most, this is something to be mocked, ridiculed or at least smirked at. Must be hard to live in a state of perpetual outrage. And the management at Heathrow need to have a chat with their baggage handlers about giving their two cents worth to reporters while on the job.

There's a part of me that actually admires the arabs because they're willing to do grand things with their wealth. Look at the Burj Dubai, which is by now probably the tallest structure of any kind ever built, and still growing. Hell, look at Dubai as a whole. In North America, we concentrate too much on accumulating money, even those who have made more than they'll ever use.

Flying a Lamborghini to Britain is completely impractical. It's ridiculous. But it makes people stop and look, it gets into the papers, makes people talk, maybe gives them a chuckle. To me, that's what's worth the money.

Hey the Airline industry is whining a crying about money .. seem to me he helping them out.

I'll be so kind as to let him fly my Benz back to Germany so I can have the air pressure in the tires check ... because heard that will solve all the worlds energy problems.
