Apparently Fox still has some sort of distribution rights to some of the Watchmen franchise from way back in '91. We in the Anubis household thought there might be some kind of statute of limitations on the copyright this late in the game, but apparently not since a judge has okayed Fox to go ahead with the lawsuit against Warner Bros. Two things: you'd think WB would've been 100% on the legalities of something like this before going ahead with production, and you know Fox has been sitting on this info until the movie was finished to further try and hurt the competition.

Here's another really in depth article about this.

Ah nuts.....................
I wonder if anyone in WB's legal department is going to be getting pink slips soon.
Yeah, I'm totally sure the movie won't get released because of this.
Supposedly, they've moved the release date for the new Harry Potter movie up to June '09 to offset the likely delay of Watchmen as originally planned in March.
They're gonna make a ton of money off of this, some of it by ripping us off. They left the Black Freighter story out of the theatrical release, it will be for sale on DVD when the movie comes out. Then after the normal DVD release, they will integrate it into the movie for Ultimate edition DVD.
The trial is set to begin Jan. 6.
