A Japanese pseudo-western. Note the name Django in the title.

It's a Miike film... this could get interesting.
Had a chance to see this at the cinema last month, but missed the session which was a shame. But this one looks like nutty fun! Miike is always good value.
He's a really hit or miss filmmaker but the ones of his that I like I think are great films (like Ichi the Killer & Audition).
This one looks interesting.
Seen it, and sort of liked it. I say "sort of" because I couldn't follow the plot. But visually it's a feast, has some really funny moments (watch out for Tarantino as a cowboy) and it moves really fast.
Just watched it on DVD, and it is definitely the craziest 'Western' this side of El Topo.
Subtitles really help with this one too, you have Japanese actors delivering western gunfighter slang with strange accents. On the other hand, not understanding the plot might actually be more fun.
Things I learnt from this movie:
The bugle is an ancient native American musical instrument.
A friend of mine saw this in Italy...it was love at first shot.
Gotta get this bat guano insane thing...
Thought it was awful, and most impressively (considering the gonzo crazy style), damn boring. Bad acting, stupid characters, just pretty bad all around. I like very few modern Japanese films though, I've noticed. Many of them have a style best described as withdrawn and placid.
Probably the only thing I liked much was the one character who simply refused to die.
