Yep, it's another list! I was perusing posters to use as possible promotional prizes in the future for The Tomb and I thought it necessary to throw up another "100" list. So many awesome images to choose from, but only 100 spots!
Basic rules apply: ONE (1) entry at a time per person. Additionally, if you nominate a poster, please don't try to skirt this rule by nominating another in the immediate slot following. I'm guilty of doing this myself. Please allow at least one other person to nominate their poster before you post another. For any posts that nominate multiple posters, only the first one will be counted. Also, to cut down on confusion, PLEASE BE SURE TO NUMBER YOUR SUGGESTION. I thought of denying any entry that wasn't numbered, but then I realized I would be going mad with the limited amount of power I've been given, thus making me no better than Kevin MacDonald in that "Kids in the Hall" skit... "Damn it KYGOTC, I told you to stay under your desk!" :hatred: heh heh
Oh yeah, and if you want to nominate a different poster for a movie that's already been nominated, that's more than cool. THIS LIST ENCOMPASSES ALL MOVIES, NOT JUST B-MOVIES... whatever that term means anymore... Let the games begin!
No.1 -
Brain Damage - Though I think the Germans lost something in the translation of the title, I've always enjoyed their poster for
Brain Damage. The hero's exploding head isn't as impressive as the American version, but Aylmer's "brain sundae" makes up for it. Wish I could have found a larger image though...

3. A Clockwork Orange: Best tag line I've read in years.
4. THE KILLER SHREWS
(http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t214/morrisawilliams/killer_shrews.jpg)
Best Poster Ever!
5. I always liked the Evil Dead Posters, so I'd lump them in the same category, but I always had a particular fondness for Army of Darkness [even if I have an Evil Dead 1 poster at home on the wall]
Ok so I know I might be breaking the rules, but I also liked the other version of the Army of Darkness poster as well. I'm going to post a version for variety's sake and since they're all the same movie Anubis can stuff it up his vonmojo if he deems me out of line! :teddyr:
I hope to make up for it however by posting an alternative of the version I like. I like the creative use of soup cans to reinforce Bruce's name in the Japanese psyche.
Crazy poster overload!:
6.) Maniac
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/a/a2/Maniac_%281980%29.jpg)
The Night Porter poster always struck me as nostalgic. The intensity of Charlotte Rampling is not often met. However, the poster is probably not appropriate to post on here. So, I'll go with one of my other favs..
7. The Damned
(http://i388.photobucket.com/albums/oo326/SisterGrace78/t86343vzqk2.jpg)
Just to keep things organized, I'm nominating dean's "Captain Supermarket" poster as No.8. :tongueout:
:teddyr:
Number 9. There have been some very good Godzilla posters, especially from the Heisei series. Let me nominate this one from "Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla" (1993):
10. HENREY: Portrait of a Serial Killer
I like this one a lot...as it features the grotesque artwork of the demented Joe Coleman!!!
First, Andrew, whoa! :buggedout:
And RC? That's an awesome poster. I've got a copy of it around here somewhere that I need to frame and find some wall space for!
11.) April Fools Day
(http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i169/darksider66/aprilfoolsbigposter.jpg)
12.) Attack of the Killer Tomatoes (Just because I already copied the link)
13. this poster for BLACK FRANKENSTIEN (aka BLACKENSTIEN)...for obvoious reasons. If they had shown a pic of the Blackenstien monster I don't think too many people, beyond geeks like us,would be too impressed. I just like the straight up, screaming, half nekid chick!
14. Texas Chainsaw Massacre
(http://www.iwatchstuff.com/2006/08/29/texas-chainsaw-beginning.jpg)
Following up on Ghouck's last response...
15.) TCM 2
(http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/2/23/Texas_chainsaw_massacre_2_poster.jpg)
Following up The Darksider's response:
# 16: The Breakfast Club, which TCM2 shamelessly spoofs :tongueout:
#17: WESTWORLD
(http://www.moviegoods.com/Assets/product_images/1020/198246.1020.A.jpg)
18. I like this one...just because it's so insanly cheezy!!!!
ASTRO-ZOMBIES!!!
#19. I've always liked the poster for "Streets of Fire:"
Believe it or not, some of the coolest posters come from Poland.
Here's a few of their takes on famous American films:
THE FLY
(http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t214/morrisawilliams/4081.jpg)
STAR WARS: A NEW HOPE
(http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t214/morrisawilliams/4078.jpg)
RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK
(http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t214/morrisawilliams/4079.jpg)
THE SHINING
(http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t214/morrisawilliams/4334.jpg)
I particularly like how RAIDERS appears to be some sort of Lovecraftian nightmare.
Here's a link to a site with images lots of these posters. I was gonna post the one for ESCAPE FROM THE PLANET OF THE APES but it's quite pornographic - especially for a film that was rated G!
If you have a few hundred bucks to spare you can even buy a few!
:bouncegiggle:
http://www.polishposter.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Category_Code=MP
That SHINING poster is INCREDIBLE!!!! I would like that hanging on the front door to my house on Halloween!
20(i think). i aways remeber this poster METROPOLIS
(http://i160.photobucket.com/albums/t196/orac1977/metropolispost1.jpg)
and i like the shining and the raiders one alot if someone asked me what movie the poster was for i would not say raiders lol
Though I do agree with Raffine that Poland makes some amazing art posters, as posted in the rules of the thread only his first submission can be accepted. If Raff or anybody else wants to nominate some of those posters themselves one-at-a-time though that's more than cool. As such, the Polish poster for
The Fly is No.20 and Master's
Metropolis poster is No.21.
With that settled...
No.22 -
Godzilla Vs. the Thing - I dropped a little too much money on an original print of this beauty a few years ago, but don't regret it. This was a great promotional poster made up when the identity of Godzilla's next opponent (Mothra) had yet to be revealed. Personally, I'd like to see a movie where Godzilla actually fights a giant question mark, but somehow I don't see that happening...
23. THE MUMMY (1932)
QuoteThough I do agree with Raffine that Poland makes some amazing art posters, as posted in the rules of the thread only his first submission can be accepted. Sorry I didn't explain - I didn't intend these to be in the official count. Just some interesting examples of some 'alternate posters'.
So METROPOLIS is #20 by my count! :twirl:
Okay, since Raff's submissions weren't actually submissions I'll drop The Fly and Metropolis will be No.20, Godzilla Vs. the Thing is now No.21, and The Mummy is No.22... So says Ape law! :tongueout:
QuoteSo says Ape law!

These are not original posters. They were created by some guy named T. Stout. Please don't include them on the official list.

Say what you want about the movie itself, but this is some awesome poster artwork. Although where the heck is Saurod's tail?

28.?? Friday 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan
(http://the-reviewer.net/wp-content/uploads/fridaythe13th-part8.jpg)
The original VHS cover and movie posters were great as well. The newer DVD covers suck tho'.
Wow, I don't know what roscoe was thinking when he numbered his entry, but I see it managed to throw everybody WAY off course with the numbering... Anyway, I straightened everything out on the master list. Also, if anybody else wants to post images from impawards.com, I recommend opening a photobucket account first, then uploading the images there so the rest of us can see them too. Thanks. :tongueout:
No.31 - Friday the 13th Part 8 "I <3 NY" version - Discontinued because nobody at Paramount bothered to see if there was a copyright on the "I <3 NY" design before printing up the posters, this is one of our favorite wall decorations here at the Anubis household. :teddyr:

Great poster! I was going to nominate it too. Though the movie moves slow at times, it is funny to see the girl (girls?) tied to the wooden poles, with the little mini-bigfoots around them. Then there is the big guy: the Bigfoot version of John Holmes. Egad!
47. Invisible Ghost (1941)

That TV ad freaked me out so much as a kid, I refused to watch that movie in my teens, when I was watching just about every horror movie I could get my hands on. Somebody rented it, and I simply refused, and did something else until it was over. Come to think of it, I still haven't seen It's Alive, and I don't think I want to. I've heard the actual movie is pretty cheesy, but the thought of that ad gives me the heebie-jeebies.
