This girl meets this guy at school who is a new student and later in the movie this guy transform into a catperson. This guy lives with his mom his is also a catperson. This movie is not cat people. A whole bunch of cats follow these strange catpeople.
This is almost certainly "Sleepwalkers" (1992). I keep meaning to review that film.

Yeah, no confirmation from O.P., but all details (hs girl, boy, mom, the latter two turn into cat people, real cats follow them) are all exact matches to SLEEPWALKERS and nothing else. Effectively Solved whether movable or not!
