I saw a little of this on TV a while ago.
I think the basic plot was US citizens joining the Canadian military. I have no clue why.
The scene I remember was a Canadian beating up a big, dumb guy in the mess hall as a demonstration of hand-to-hand combat. Then it went into several scenes of the troops learning how to fight. When I quit watching, some Canadians and the American (?) guys were in a bar and a fight with lumberjacks was about to break out.
Possibly "The Devil's Brigade" from the late Sixties starring william Holden.
