This film is apparently supposed to have a December release and I can't wait. I'm a big fan of Mickey Rourke (shame to see him the way he is now tho') and I used to be a huge fan of pro-wrestling, especially WWF (1988-2000...R.I.P.). Mickey plays Randy "The Ram" Robinson, a wrestler who used to be a big star back in the 80s. We see him now struggling on the indy circuit and trying to form a relationship with his estranged daughter (played by Evan Rachael Wood). Mickey looks pretty cool (except for the face...sorry Mr. Rourke) with long blonde hair and plenty of muscles. I'm sure this will appeal to wrestling fans, but I feel it will take a backseat to the other issues put forward in the film and there seems to be some good performances on display. The film debuted at the Venice film festival to good reception and was nominated for a golden lion award.

Hooray! :bouncegiggle:
Has anyone seen this film yet?
I've seen it and I thought it was a fantastic movie. Mickey Rourke deserves all of the accolades that he's getting for his amazing performance in The Wrestler.
I really liked the fact that the movie never takes the easy way out in terms of the plot of what the title character goes through throughout the film.
I really want to see this film. One I like the content seeing I was once a huge fan of wrestling. Two it has Marisa Tomei in a strip scene.

I still haven't had time to go and see this. I'm hoping to go on Friday night. I've just checked out the soundtrack and had a little giddy fit! Accept! Quiet Riot! Firehouse! Slaughter! Cinderella and Ratt! ...Now that's what I call a soundtrack!
