Ok so we've listed some of the worst songs in another thread. Are there songs you sing a long to that make your friends wonder about you? Maybe something buried on your MP3 player that you only play when you're alone? Or perhaps songs that that would shock others if they knew you were into them? Most of all, songs you like that you know most people think of as high on the "suck" factor but you like anyhow. I have tons...I'll start with this little gem from Green Jelly(Jello)

GRIM REAPER "Rock You to Hell"

I don't know the singer or the song title, but that happy little tune they play over the new iPod Nano commercial where the Nanos are all bleeding their colors in a paint rainbow makes me feel "bouncy".

Really? These songs are considered guilty pleasures? I know I'm an oddball, but other than the Don Johnson song and the New Kids on the Block song (and those are not necessarily bad songs; the artists are just made fun of ad nauseum), none of these seem particularly embarrassing to me. But then, I've always been so far out of the loop that I guess I don't know what passes for "cool" anymore. Here's a selection of stuff from my mp3 player:

Aqua and the Spice Girls would have to be my biggest two. Just love their videos which are often sci-fi themed. Thompson Twins and Culture Club are up there too. This is one song/cd I have that I get the most flack for. And I own 2 (TWO) New Kids on the Block cd's. Overall, every cd I own I willingly and readily admit to liking. Generally, I try to listen to GOOD music, but once in a while my evil side kicks in and I bow to the great power of pop music.

Another guilty pleasure:

I gotta say, I like this. I saw this on VH1's "I Love the '80s" and one comedian was commenting on this video like, "I'm sorry, George, but however you convinced legions of females you were straight while dancing in neon short shorts for this video was a miracle."

Have to admit to being a fan of Seal and Wham! too. Add Cyndi Lauper, the KLF and DEEE-LITE too. Of course, I think in a lot of these cases, I actually like their videos even more than their music (although I do find most of those bands I named at least catchy).

Not as nearly ashamed as I was 30 years ago when I secretly liked a lot of
BEE GEES hits, I have matured (and apparently you too) and can embrace
anything worthwhile... and consider their two-disc greatest collection essential for anybody going for a comprehensive collection of great 20th century Pop... I like
"Nights On Broadway" the most. In this clip, and impressively,
THE BEE GEES, are performing
live!!

However,
U2's
BONO discovering
ABBA post-facto, long after he'd perceived himself as their antithesis is a bit hamhanded... okay, they were in Stockholm and
BONO did indeed choose to perform
ABBA live seriously, and it does not necessarily yield schmaltz.

Okay, some of my guilty listens...
I know, lots of people are going to give me crap for this, but I really LIKE this song
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEjeItYtioE
But, in fairness, it's the ONLY one of hers that I know of that I do like.
Here's a good song to listen to, just kind of embarrassing to sing in public. And does anyone know why the hell some versions have the word "nuclear" censored out? That makes no damn sense to me (unless maybe it's the Japanese version.)

Love how modern day cynics like to mock this (and other) 80s bands, pretending they themselves didn't actually listen to them back in the day.

I dare you not to try and sing along with this!

No, "Blockbuster", "Action", "Ballroom Blitz" and "love Is Like Oxygen" are really rather good.

Pretty much any nu metal I used to listen to at the turn of the decade. I loved it when I was 20-years-old and angry all the time. Nowadays, it's more of a nostalgia thing.
That and Constant Craving by KD Lang.
Dunno, something within me just tells me I shouldn't admit to liking the remixes of these songs, as the group is probably aimed at people about twenty years younger than me, and I feel like a weirdo, for even listening to it.
But still, I dunno, it's got a nice, fast, techno/dance beat I find myself drawn to...
