Title: A Nightmare on Elm Street, Critters, Ghoulies, Troll, and ...
Post by: frodo on October 06, 2008, 08:35:33 PM
Why can't I seem to find any more horror movies that I like?

Ghoulies
Night of the Demons
Critters
Troll
Demons
A Nightmare on Elm Street
Killer Klowns From Outer Space

These all have:

Quality
Campiness
Creativity
Cheesiness
Comedy
Scariness
Uniqueness

Are Full Moon Pictures and Wes Craven the only guys making these movies?

WHAT ELSE ARE THERE!!!???!!

Let's make this a comprehensive post.

I saw this movie late one night and loved it.  I thought it was funny with the monster truck.  The thing that I liked even more (besides the brother of the monster man being still alive after being run over (he was flat in the middle)) was at the end when the main character stops running over the monster man and the lips are still moving cursing our hero.

Fun movie, hot actress and decent gore.

Later,

JOHN

Sounds to me like FRANKENHOOKER (link to Andrew's review (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/frankenhooker/)) might have been made with you in mind.

I agree with most of the other recommendations here.  Inframan's selections are all classics that sound like they would be right up your alley, if you haven't seen them yet.  These suggestions should keep you busy for a while.

Thanks so much for the rec's. I haven't checked out any of the movies on Amazon or IMDB yet, but I wanted to suggest one more:

Wishmaster 4: The Prophecy Fulfilled

I'm pretty much going to refer to this post when I purchase all my movies for the new year.

Didn't know you meant from all time, I thought you were looking for newer examples. Since not, I'll refer you to my old standby and one of my favorites: Waxwork

Quality - You can see it had a fair budget
Campiness - Dracula gets his head blown off XD
Creativity - Not a waxwork where the exhibits come to life, but where you are sucked into the exhibits!
Cheesiness - Battle wheelchair!!
Comedy - "Going to the emergency room to get x-rated, err, x-rayed" and little stuff like that XD
Scariness - Some of the early exhibit scenes are kinda creepy, not one you should be scared to watch in the dark though :P
Uniqueness - Haven't seen one like it yet!

Try ....
HUMANOIDS from the DEEP (1980)
PIRANHA (1978)
EVIL SPAWN
SLITHER
RETURN of the LIVING DEAD
ALLIGATOR (1979)
BAD TASTE
DEAD ALIVE
BASKET CASE
BRAIN DAMAGE
RE-ANIMATOR
I,MADMAN (I liked it!)
DEADLY SPAWN
....these are mostly from the era that you seem to be looking for. Try films from he early seventies.....like DR.PHIBES,I DRINK YOUR BLOOD, or DERANGED; from the sixties-the BLACK CAT (1966), BLOODY PIT of HORROR, or X-the MAN with the X RAY EYES, and the fifties-IVASION of the SAUCER MEN, the BRAIN that WOULDN'T DIE, or the TINGLER!

Yes,

Piranha hits really close to home. Anything like that with killer creatures, little ghoulies, or even modern-day memorable creations like the Gingerdead Man, etc.

Anything CREATIVE.

"Mutant" aka Night Shadows [1984]     A bit of a cross between C.H.U.D. and Dawn Of The Dead.

"Monster Squad" is a good low budget movie.
Ummm, if you're into puppets, Full Moon Pictures does mostly puppet films.

Your taste in movies is just like mine!

I think we're gonna get along juuuuust fiiiiiine.

By the way, take note of pretty much all the movies mentioned in this thread. I haven't seen a one that I wouldn't recommend myself. ESPECIALLY make sure to check out Galaxy Of Terror, Dead Heat, and Frankenhooker!!!
