Title: The Servant Girl Annihilator
Post by: ER on October 08, 2008, 12:23:18 PM
A friend of mine in Texas was once plotting a book based on these murders. Awful stuff.

Bizarre case, all right,  Thanks for posting!!!

One of the more fascinating true crime stories I have read is

"TORSO:  Elliot Ness and the Mad Butcher of Kingsbury Run".

The Cleveland torso killer took at least 14 victims and was never caught, between 1933 and 1936.  Ness' failure to apprehend him was the beginning of the end of his career in law enforcement.

An interesting case. And pertinent to me, as I went to school for a summer in Cleveland. I believe Ness had a suspect in the case, but he never had enough evidence to convict the man beyond the shadow of a doubt.

Yeah, I meant to say thanks the other day for the info on that case, indy. I knew Ness was active in my area after he left Chicago, and that he battled bootleggers (however much a chair polisher like him "battled" anyone) who were running moonshine up from Appalachia, but your story was news to me. Interesting read!

Is there any more information about the supposed link to Jack the Ripper?

Good question, akiratubo! Now that it seems my friend and I are back on semi-speaking terms again after five months, lol, let me ask him soon and find out. To my knowledge, the link to the London murders is weak and just suggestive, but he would know more.
