Vampires Beware
Watch out, Dracula--a collector paid $14,850 for a c.1800 vampire-killing kit at a Mississippi auction earlier this month. The kit is complete with stakes, mirrors, a gun with silver bullets, crosses, a Bible, holy water and, of course, garlic, all neatly arranged in an American walnut case. It sold at a Stevens Auction Company sale.

Love it! Now I want one...maybe I can mock one up. (Minus the gun) If it was 'used'/incomplete, i.e. pieces missing, it might seem more realistic - which would cover for the bits I cannot reproduce. It would be fun just to have it sitting in a corner as a conversation piece. I have the perfect battered wooden case somewhere around here. I smell a project coming on!
Hmmm...have to wonder if there is a market for modern versions: Vampire killing kits, Zombie killing kits, Werewolf killing kits. Given the shows on TV lately, someone must have cashed in on that by now?
Silver bullets are for the Wolfman, not vampires. And I bet the garlic is stale by now. Still, might not be a bad thing to have on hand.
Not that vampires exist.
I think.
