Title: Need help finding DVD version of "To cast a Deadly Spell". HELP!!!!!!
Post by: Rumblestealskins on November 19, 2008, 10:50:13 AM

There is said to be a dvd of To Cast a Deadly Spell, but very rare and thus hard to find. Mostly I have found VHS, a few places with it on DVD, but don't really trust the site. For instance Ioffer.com and another very sketchy site called Rezarected.com, they don't want you mentioning to Paypal, that you bought from them, not to even mention there name?
Very odd, so if anyone knows of a safe place, let me know.

Also if anyone would  like to add anything what-so-ever about this movie, interested in your thoughts.

I'm pretty sure that Cast a Deadly Spell never received a release beyond VHS and Laserdisc. Any DVD you find is likely a DVD-R someone burned from one of the aforementioned other formats. This is probably why they don't want you to mention their names to PayPal, because PayPal doesn't like people buying and selling bootlegs through their service. Same thing with eBay. If you don't have a Laserdisc player, I'd suggest either biting the bullet and try to buy a DVD-R or dust off the ol' VCR and buy a used VHS somewhere.

Rezarected won't steer you wrong.

I love this movie, by the way. I've been a adoring Lovecraft devotee ever since I first read Pickman's Model back in grade school (still my favorite of his tales) and was totally blown away. I'm not much of a fan of detective story film noir, but for some reason I love noir hybrids, especially horror/noir movies (like Angel Heart) and Cast A Deadly Spell is a goodie. And, hey, David Warner's in it, so that's always cool, and there's some nifty special effects monsters (though nowhere near enough, at least in the mind of THIS creature feature freakazoid) including some work done by Gore Shriek artist Bruce Spaulding Fuller.

I do not know of any Region 1 DVD release of "To Cast A Deadly Spell."  Perhaps there has been a Region 2 DVD, but I have not heard of that either - though I do not keep a close eye on Region 2.

The film was released on LD, which is what I have in my collection.  I would also love to see a nice DVD release of the film.
