In this time of big budget crapfests and a hellstorm of remakes vastly approaching, its good to reflect on the wise words of movie critic Jay Sherman. Only by learning from his example may we salvage the film industry for the next generation.
If you stop going to bad movies, they'll stop making bad movies.
1. If its based on a TV show, just dont go
2. After Roman numeral 2, give it a rest
3. (And this is important) If its a remake of a classic, RENT THE CLASSIC!
4. Tell them you want stories about people, not 100 million dollars worth of explosions.

I agree wholeheartedly, my man. Jay had it right the whole time, and what did the network do in exchange? Gave The Critic the axe!!! I honestly haven't been able to watch TV, with the exception of MST and Adult Swim, nearly at all after they canceled that and Duckman. It was like a betrayal of the trust I had in TV as a child: Article #1: If you keep making good shows, I'll watch them. If you don't, I'm outta here!
I tell you, it's a Duke-tastophe...

Where's the fun in that?

Lord knows there are lots of TV shows that could have had fair movie adaptations, but instead pursue an even-less-common-denominator than the original viewers XP

Phantasm III
Puppet Master III
Day of the Dead
SaW III (It was in the
next installment things got maddeningly disappointing >.<)
Black sheep, yes, but I think the world is better with them

And if it looks interesting, see the remake next

This, I agree with. Why anyone would like to see a lazily-made-but-expensive movie is beyond me, but then a lot of things are >.> .
I agree for the most part, some movies based off T.V. shows weren't bad.. Serenity comes to mind. Not all series that go on for a while suck..
I've never seen a remake that lived up to the classic. Also explosions are fun, but they don't make for a good movie.
