This movie is bad, but in many confusing ways. First, I can't believe the people that made it, including the actors, could have NOT known how bad it was going to be. It is terribly bad, but the actors seem as if they are oblivious to that fact, like they REALLY thought it was going to be a good movie, and put their hearts into it. Second, the story is so crazy, I'm not sure how they could have come up with the idea without the help of psychotropic and or hallucinogenic drugs. I can't decide if the wardrobe is more low-budget or just plain silly. How could one possibly keep a straight face seeing what the rest of the cast is wearing, let alone hearing the lines.
I know... but thank goodness they didn't realize it! Otherwise, they might have ruined what is otherwise a perfect example of horrible filmmaking!
Hated it. I received a DVD as a gift. Hate it. :hatred:
Best christmas movie EVER.
Well, the mst3k version, that is.
It's not completely terrible. Then again, considering that snazzy Polar Bear costume, it can be seen as brutally bad.
You forgot the toy battle at the end. ;)

MST3K was such a good show. I still miss it.
amen to that!!!!
The MST3K version of this movie is one of their best.
I have it in my queue to rent from Netflix so I'll probably end up receiving it this week sometime. I'll have to find the MST3K version as well and watch it.
I have both versions, and intend to have a Patrick Swayze Christmas this year.
heh, every week a bunch of my friends and I gather and watch B-movies, usually drawn from my collection, and so far this semester I've been going easy on them, showing them easily-watchable movies like the Killer Shrews and Plan 9 from Outer Space, always threatening to unleash something truely painful on them...
this past Thursday was our last B-movie night for the semester, and I showed them the non-MST3K version of Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. It was seen as the beginning of "THE PAIN." I'm now expected to show truly bad films.
I think I need to show them Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-a-Rama next.
it was a movie for kids thats what it was for. Like ive seen little kids watch it and they love it cause thats what it is a kids movie
I want to see a sequel to this where they kidnap Billy Bob Thorton as Bad Santa and soon Mars learns to use horrible language and different sex practices.

Yeah and the Nazis came before political correctness, it doesnt make it cool! :hot:
I actually really enjoyed this movie. It's silly, incredibly stupid, poorly made, etc. What more could you ask for? I found it to be entertaining in a corny, "this movie would really annoy a lot of people" kind of way. It was one of my early "holy grails" of bad moviedom. I saw the title in the original Book of Lists section on the worst movies ever made, which also included such gems as Plan 9 from Outer Space, Robot Monster, and The Conqueror. I sought out as many films on that list as I could find, including Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and I found most of them to be highly entertaining as bad movies go. It actually helped to cement my love of inept cinema, so it was one of the movies that eventually led me here. All hail Santy Claus!
