Title: trying to find a movie for a christmas present/don't know the name

Hello everyone!!!!

I am trying to find the name of a movie.  A man loses his wife right before christmas.  She is a tightrope walker and while doing an act without a net, she falls to her death.  He then becomes a hobo.  He then meets a man who becomes his friend and they start doing a juggling act and then his friends dies.  He starts seeing signs and the virgin mary I believe.  Can anyone help?  I've tried everything please.

is this black and white?and silent? it reminds me of a lon chaney movie, can't think of the title...

I don't think it's silent.  It is a old movie.....didn't get that information.  Thanks for the little info though, at least I can try looking under lon chaney.

Unless it's a silent film, I doubt it's got Lon Chaney in it.
