I wasn't able to help my friend with this one, but hopefully somebody here can. She remembers seeing a preview on a VHS for what she is pretty sure was a was a tv show.

"It's like this alien world and this kid's standing there, and all of a sudden he just falls into the world, and it's all scary... it was definitely a sci-fi show"

She also remembered the ground of the alien world being "kind of yellowish" and "like a desert".

I'll try to get more details.

Any ideas?

Does she have any other clues? Age of show? Actors?

Pure guess is Earth 2. I think it had aliens that travelled underground and a kid was one of the main characters.
