there is an old blk and wht movie where a woman somehow invites a stranger into her home and the stranger holds the woman hostage, a young paper boy figuers out that something is wrong an gets help. I need help with the title

Is the woman handicapped in some way? And is she trapped in an elevator installed in her house at some point? This movie sounds familiar, but I can't place the female lead.
